Hi Toni, congratulations on your pregnancy. I would think for your appointment to be taking 2-3 hours they probably will do a scan. You will be the right gestation by then. I went with my sil to her scans when she was carrying my nephew. At the 12 weeks scan he looked like a little teddy bear and we saw his heartbeat flickering away. Absolute magic moment that I will never forget, remember to take a pack of tissues with you.
I have recently found out I am pregnant, am about a month behind you. Will be seeing my midwife at the gp surgery end of next week for a booking in appointment, which apparently takes about half an hour. I think she then organises the scans and blood tests etc.
Has your morning sickness worn off yet? I am still suffering with it really badly. Will be pleased when it wears off.0 -
Nice to hear from you.
Your Dad's original post captured many of us I think and it's my guess you have lots of well intentioned MSE [STRIKE]stalkers[/STRIKE] followers now

Hi Taxi - What hospital are you going to?
im in antrim and my appts have been as follows so far
1st hospital appt - was saw by the midwife who asked lots of questions about family history just really to make notes of anything relevant for your notes - took blood samples, checked urine and got weight and height taken - i was about 7 weeks at this stage and i got a wee scan just to confirm that the baby was there and in the right place - was really tiny though so hard to see what things were - was still lovely to see though - the letter said this would take 2 - 3 hours but was more like half an hour.
At the 1st appt i got an appt for my 12 week scan - It was the consultant that saw me for this and again went through some questions, checked blood pressure and did the scan -
At 16 weeks i saw the community midwife at my gp surgery - she checked urine and blood pressure and i was able to hear the baby's heartbeat - which was just amazing - they saw that i should see her every 4 weeks
Then had 20 week scan in antrim - this was simply just the scan - although there were a few probs with mine so i have to go back again but hopefully that wont be the case for you.
Is great that you have good family support - I would def be lost without it
And of course you have the MSE family to see you through
any questions feel free to ask - the pregnancy forum got me through many a sleepless night and everyone is so friendly Comp Wins 2011 : Cant wait to start listing everything:j:j:j0 -

You'll probably have a scan - the photos are £6.00 so make sure you've got your pound coins with you xx
My friend is currently preg with her first.
Our local hospital scan photos are now £10 :eek::eek::eek::eek: £4 each when I was preg in 2006.
Captive audience, they know new parents will buy the scan photos at whatever ridiculous price they charge. Friend has had 12 wk, 20 wk and emergency 25 week scan. £30 on 3 photos.
Plus the cost of parking at £4 for 2 hours, assuming appt is running on time.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

Flip they don't charge for the photos in antrim either (I'm surprised they don't usually miss a trick)Comp Wins 2011 : Cant wait to start listing everything:j:j:j0

Hi- Congratulations on your pregnancy- glad to hear you're happy and being given such great support from your parents :j.
In my area booking in appt and 12 week scan are done together- and it did take all morning.
There was the scan obviously which needed fullish bladder- but you don't need to be bursting. I got two pics free (had to pay at 20 weeks- can't remember how much- I think it was about £2/£3 each)
Blood tests- one needle but filling a couple of vials.
Urine test.
Blood pressure checked
Weight measured and BMI checked.
Then quite a long chat with midwife where they ask standard questions about family history etc filling in details in your notes.
Next appt was with midwife at my doctors surgery at 16 weeks- again some standard questions to check you're not depressed or anything then blood pressure, urine tested and blood test. Appt took about 15 minutes.
Then 20 week back at hospital for second scan- quick this time as did not have to see midwives.
After that appts got more frequent (with community midwife) and they also listen in to heart rate and feel your belly. Some areas "listen in" at 16 weeks but in mine they don't as it can be hit and miss to detect that early.
Good luck with everything- enjoy your pregnancy as much as you can- it flies by :rotfl::rotfl:.2016 MFW OPd £2000, 2015 MFW OPd 3000 then bought new bigger house with bigger mortgage.Beautiful boys born May 2011 and October 2013
