booking in appointment. Scan ?

Thank you every one for replying.
I had telephoned the hospital on Friday to ask them if there was any appointment for me on their system yet and I had asked the lady who answered the telephone in maternity whether or not my first appoinment would include a scan and she said that she would not know this information until I arrived for my appointment. She said that the first scan was usually carried out at 12 weeks and that as my appointment was dead on 12 weeks there was a possibility that I would be scanned while I was there. The letter I received does not mention drinking water or anything, just that all details of my pregnancy will be recorded and simple investigations carried out , I will see both medical staff and the parentcraft midwife who will give me a general examination and offer advice regarding my pregnancy.
I have to see the midwife at my GP surgery on Monday coming so maybe she will be able to tell me more.
I suppose if I go to my appointment in ten days and dont get a scan I wont have too long to wait anyway as it is usually done by 14 weeks as this is what I have read.
Thanks for reading and replying. Toni xxx0 -
Congratulations Toni! I recognised your dads username and was thrilled that it was YOU posting!
I have no idea whether you will actually have a scan - there are differences between hospitals and some will scan some will make a separate appointment!
I remember how strange everything was on my first pregnancy (that was over thirty years ago and scans were unknown in Wales then). just try to remember to ask the questions you want to ask - write them down beforehand if you think you may forget.
I am so pleased that you have taken the time to used dads name and update us! I feel quite involved with your pregnancy so please please let us all know how you are doing!
PS - Your dad is an exceptional man you know. The respect he gained from me and I am sure many other people is phenomenal. He really loves you and already loves the baby I know.0 -
Hi toni!
I had my booking in appointment and scan on my first appointment but they did tell me beforehand. If you need any advice during your pregnancy I recommend you post on the pregnancy club - we're a friendly bunch and the ladies are very knowledgable!

Thank you so much. I agree with what you say about my Daddy. I always knew that he was the most wonderful Dad on this earth but since he found out about my Baby he has really changed. He is out working all hours so that he can give me + my Baby evrything we could ever need + want + I really apreciate everything he does for me every day. He has really got used to the idea of being Grandad,it is hard to tell who is more excited between my Mum,Dad + myself.
I am going to take a look around the pregnancy threads and try to join in. It would be nice to chat to other Mummies to be.
Thanks you for helping me.

 £6 EACH? Thats my Mum showing her age then cos she told me that the scan pictures were £1 in her day so she estimated that they would be roughly £1.50 now. I had promised the world and it's wife a picture of the first scan, guess I will be editing that list then.:D0 -
Wow the scan pics have got expensive! In London 4 years ago when I had our daughter they were £3 each and I thought that was dear!0

Eek! My photos were only £2 each. I guess its different everywhere!:j0

I think I paid £4 and got 3 photos (and baby is only 6 months so not that long ago)
You can scan in the photos and print out extra copies if you want to give others a copy - each one is slightly different so you may want to keep all of them for yourself0 -
Here we get booked in by community midwife , then you get arranged a scan for few weeks later. xmum to; Two Boys (Non id twins)Two Girls (Id twins)0
