You will find alot of large company's are offered this deal by Microsoft. As already explained its to keep the company buying. It basically allows for everybody with a PC operating XP/Office 2003 the same version as a home user. Of course thats were you have to have an email address.

Ask your IT people to see if a similar deal operates at your company.

I know we experience problems as about 500 employees don't have email, so they are annoyed when they see this offer but it only applies to those who use a PC for work.
  • The one thing that is missing (or from what I can see) is what version of Office 2003 or XP you are actually getting. Is the home, standard or professional edition?

As my wife works for the nhs, we can take advantage, but I want to know which version we actually receive, as we be no better off than what we are using now, as she does occassionally use Access.

Can all those of you who do work for the NHS, and in particular, those who might decide to attempt to abuse the offer, please spare a thought for those of us who do not work for the NHS, but pay taxes and therefore both your wages and the cost of this "offer". FREEBIE this is NOT. The people of this country are paying for it and to be quite honest, i'm disgusted. Whilst I appreciate that NHS employees perform a vital, neccesary function in our society, there is no reason why they should receive such incentives over and above the vast majority of the public who work in the private sector (often, might I add, for far less financial reward).

Those of you who can benefit, good luck to you, but i'm sure there is a more specific forum provided by the NHS (again, at the taxpayer's expense) where such an offer may be more suitably publicised.

They save lives, is that good enough for you?
What about all this people on bennifits? do you complain about them too?
Or what about the money we pay which goes on keepng the roads safe?

Has anyone who ordered this software received it yet, if so, what is included in the suite. I am really after access, which to my knowledge is only available in the Pro version.

It's the full Pro suite, including Access.

If you wait till the end of Jan, they will be adding Office 2007 as an option.

  • how can microsoft justify nearly 18 quid in admin and handling charges for this offer??? it's actually a bit of a cheeky way of getting rid of old discs that would otherwise be destroyed and at the same time, hook in a few more people to windows. NHS staff, notice the push to do the ECDL??? which is purely based on microsoft packages!! it seems hospitals will be competing with each other for patients, but big companies like microsoft dont need to compete. is that fair? is that a good deal? is this offer a freebie?? NOOOOO!!!!

Sorry to dig up old thread but a freind of mine works for nhs, and I have told him to get office 2007 through this home use thing but they are still only offering office xp and 2003. Does anyone have any idea when MS will let nhs employees purchase office 2007?
