A few basic questions about mobile phone packages and broadband: mobile or otherwise.
Hi I've been with Telewest and then Virgin Media for a few years and the bills are just too high, I've been meaning to take a look at it for ages and started having a look at other deals this week and now I'm more confused than ever...
Ideally I'd like a smartphone to take care of the home phone mega rates issue (this would also make on-line selling a little easier without having the computer on all the time) and have a decent home broadband connection, apparently you can connect a smartphone to a wifi connection and use skype or whatever to take care of that side of things but I'm worried about ending up with a crap wifi broadband connection and being tied to a lengthy contract.
Bit of a long post but am I better off going through talk talk or whomever and dealing with the smartphone separately or looking around for a package that does both.
Any advice would be gratfully received.

If you are using wifi to connect your mobile to your home broadband, then really the most important factor is how fast your home broadband is - so I would suggest that is the first issue to take care of.

put in your post code and tell us who you can actually get broadband from.0 -
Thanks for the replies, I currently have a basic pay as you go mobile and a separate home cable broadband and phone package, I've had a look at the bill and my broadband connectivity dealy and it's as follows (it turns out the phone couldn't really be classed as a mega rate but hyperbole aside I'm paying a bit too much and any other helpful replies would be welcomed):
* BT Wholesale ADSL
* BT Wholesale ADSL Max
* BT Wholesale SDSL
* O2 / Be LLU
* Bulldog LLU
* TalkTalk (CPW) LLU
* Sky Broadband / Easynet LLU
* Orange LLU (Formerly Wanadoo)
* Virgin Media (Cable)
Telephone Line Rental £12.99
Talk Evenings & Weekends £4.00
Phone, Broadband And TV Saving -£7.00
Broadband Size: M £21.50
£31.490 -
There are special boards nearby for broadband and line rental.
I don't see how you can save much on the phone calls.0 -
That's the dilemma really, how to get decent broadband without paying for a home phone line, but I'll take another look and see if I can find a better deal.0
