PPI - time limit to claim

Hi I would really appreciate some help! all the dates below are estimates:
2003 - take out FPlus loan PPI added (sold to us a cash back scheme)
2005 - take out a further load again with PPI (this loan pays off 1st loan)
2007 - pay back loan in full - approx £9,000 in PPI cover.
2008 - wrote to First Plus to contest PPI - received reply - complained again.
Moved house - misplaced all paper work
I have now found paperwork, and wondered if I could complain to FOS? Or is it now too late as it has been nearly 3 years?
Is there any course of action I can take now to try and get the PPI back?
Advice would be most welcome - thank you

If they issued a final response then yes it is too late.
Are you sure First Plus actually sold the PPI? as most of their loans were sold through brokers.0 -
as roonaldo states did they say it was their final response?
if so, you can go ahead to the FOS, although im not 100% sure of the time scales (others will be along soon).
if not then you could try to reply to FP and then see where things lay with your case.
having said all that the case may now have fallen into time barring as its been left for so long, but worth a call or letter and good luck

do these as new claims
with the 03 one you may need to chase the insurer on this one.
What were the replys you got from your first complaint, and what reasons did you give for mis sell?.0 -
Thanks for the replies so far.
When we took the PPI, it was sold to us a "cash back" scheme, in 5 years time you will receive £xxxxx they didn't even call it PPI!
We dealt direclty with F/P no broker
I wrote to First Plus twice and twice recieved a reply from them saying that they disagreed and they did not miss-sell.
At this point I should have gone to FOS, but I moved house and lost the paper work. So I have copies of two letter from F/P saying no miss sell, but they are dated 2008. Can I now go to FOS 3 years later?
Or have I missed my chance?0 -
Yes, you have 3 years from when you became aware there was a problem. When in 2008 was this? Although there is the thing whereby you have to good reasons for not going to FOS within the time limit of 6 months (it used to be but may be longer now).ilovecheese wrote: »Thanks for the replies so far.

You have missed the chance to refer it to FOS as you must within 6 months.0

I had paperwork whereby I did not request PPI at application (which they say was with a broker) BUT on arrival of the agreement Firstplus had TYPED in their PPI and the loan was lengthened by 40 months (to keep within our repayment range). It was then that I called FIrstplus to say they had made a mistake as we clearly APPLIED without PPI and FIRSTPLUS told us it was compulsory to the loan and it was a savings scheme too. We were desperate in those times and we assumed what they said to be correct. If they issued a final response then yes it is too late.

Like any claim, i would imagine you took the institutions word for it that you dont have a claim, i would think that would be a good enough reason for a delay?.
It would not hurt the op to put a fresh claim in now to FP (due to all the media news about this now?) as i would not let FP get away with this, as this is frontloaded ppi and the FOS dont look too kindly on this.
When the ppi mis sell first came about, i remember the hundreds of people who came on this site and were told
"this ppi was not mis sold" by the banks and cc companys and so left it at that, then the people who were offered
"goodwill gestures", all this leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.
If i were the op i would now put a fresh claim in to FP and be damned.0
