****The lousy salesman in Ford said that he wouldn't take me out because he didn't want me using the excuse that my kids didn't like it to get out of buying it. He insisted that I had to have the kids with me so that we could all see how we liked it. ****

I am gob smacked at how poorly you have been treated.
I had a lovely salesman, gave me the points no problem, very polite etc and he knew the car was no good for me ( too small) so we didn't test drive.
Phone back,(this offer is worth £100 in Adams) you were in the market to buy a car.......they had an offer on..........tell them you are shocked at the way you've been treated. Bet the manager honours your points and probably kiss your butt. Might even be worth phoning nectar.
Failing that, get every-one you know to go and book a test drive at that garage and get your points that way. Good luck.

well i found another dealer - polar ford in wakefield & they couldn't have been nicer! told them i couldn't afford car till next year but seeing as they were offering points i may as well look now! lovely salesman even held screaming baby while i swapped car seats over & was very amused at how excited my 4 year old was - i know where to take him for a free treat in future!!! thanks to the op. took 2 hours in total as roads were closed on way there but def worth it. wasn't keen on the car though, too small inside, baby's feet were kicking front seat! will stick to my kia pride i think.
Cleaning the house while children are growing is like shovelling snow when it's still snowing!
  • Thanks to the OP.

I went to the Rotherham branch and Michelle couldn't have been nicer. She asked me outright if I was only interested in the points, and I said yes. We had a chat and I went for a very quick test drive but it was a pleasure throughout.

Went in to a Ford garage yesterday. They were participating in Nectar rewards, but very reluctantly! He said I could have a test drive but were very busy until Monday - no one was in the place when I was there! I was asked what car I was looking for, so said wasn't really interested just wanted rewards. He said he couldn't do it cos he had to make sure I would buy a car!!! Needless to say I didn't get my test drive and didn't get my rewards:mad: .

:j Hubby went into an Essex Ford dealers yesterday and explained he wasn't after a new car but would really like the 10,000 Nectar points. The salesman cleared it with his manager who happily agreed to give hubby the points. They then took his nectar card details and a copy of his driving licence and said the points would be on his Nectar account in about 28 days. They both shook his hand and thanked him for being honest and not wasting their time by actually booking a test drive when he had no intention of purchasing a new car. Apparently, although they know most people do only book the test drive to get the points, hubby was the first person that had actually been up front about it. This is the third year running this approach has worked for this Ford/Nectar point promotion (always at different garages) so give it a go.
10,000 Nectar points are worth £50.00 after all.:j

 My oh so friendly local dealer has just lost himself a sale. I really am in the market for a new / nearly new smallish car, was aiming to get it around Feb time. Test drove the Kia Rio (to get the £20 M&S vouchers:D ) and it was great. Like this time, I told the bloke that I wanted to see if I liked the car, but would need to bring in my kids for a short test drive before I committed myself. No problems.

The lousy salesman in Ford said that he wouldn't take me out because he didn't want me using the excuse that my kids didn't like it to get out of buying it. He insisted that I had to have the kids with me so that we could all see how we liked it.

Sorry mate, fat chance, I want to see how I like the car without the added distraction of two bored kids in the back. He did not see my point at all, gave me the brochure to browse through 'at my leisure' and said he'd look forward to seeing me and my kids soon.

Totally wasted an hour of my time getting there and back, as well as talking to the slime ball, and I didn't even get the Nectar points.

We have a Kia and it is great. The place we took the test drive is great too. We are waiting on our vouchers now

I was told that it IS a national promotion by the dealer that I phoned and all dealers are taking part, I think some have chosen to ignore this. It is probably a bit of a time waste as most people are just going for the points.

Well I went to my local one who were unaware of the promotion. Did the test drive and insisted it was a nation wide promotion. He was aware of some 10,000 pt deal but that was it.

Anyway I left with a nectar card that they gave me with a receipt which appears to have credited the card 10,000 pts. They said they had no nectar points left and couldnt credit my own card.

Rushed home to registered the card online but cant see the points. I assume I have to wait 28 days to find out?
  • Got mine today. Thanks, OP. Salesman on the phone came straight out with it and asked if I was only interested in the points. He then told me to come down with my licence and he'll put the points on. No test drive required. I think most of them are happy to just give you the points without having to go through the test drive, as it's a waste of both their time and yours.

I went to the Barnstaple dealer who hadn't heard about the promotion- they took my name and number and said they would get back to me once they had found out :(
