I'm currently using Footner & Ewing to buy my first flat. They are based mainly in Southampton, but have an office in Totton as well.

My solicitor has been absolutely brilliant; As an FTB don't know what conveyancing & legal services are usually like, but she's been great and has kept in regular email contact so I don't have keep visiting\phoning them. Unlike many of the horror stories I've heard about some of the 'big names'

Churchers in Fareham were good when we used them.

But I would echo other peoples comments re Richard Webster. Through my job I have seen lots of his work and it is always spot on from our point of view!

Had a quote from Churchers, as one of those I went to, and it was the highest price so far. Most likely going to go with Richard though, having read a lot of the other advice posted on here.

    Thanks all.
  • We used Biscoes and they were very good. They were very clear about the whole process, kept in contact with us, made cups of tea when we visted etc. A friend used Richard Webster and was very happy with the service.

Need to get the ball rolling. Propety was up for £75,000, SE Hants, 2 beds but a short lease. Was expecting to get for £71-72k, as others with the lease were being marketed around £90k in the area.

Offered £69,000 as an opening offer, so just under 10% lower than the AP, and got accepted. Wasn't expecting it at all!

Try Now legal nr Whitely or select convenyancing in park gate.
We got 6 quotes and they were the best value out of them.

Have used Select before and all very good but went with now this time and all been very good.

Blimey Richard, you've got competition! I've never seen a solicitor thread on here with such response.

If I was there, I'd pick Richard too.

Blimey. I have seen Richard Webster posting on here time and time again and the penny has only just dropped that his Eastleigh office did the work for buying our first property back in 2005. Always kept us up to date and went without a hitch!

Now we are selling, I might ahve to give him a call for a quote on that as well!

And I don't know who most of these people are because of the use of made up names.....so I am left wondering who TwistedPsycho is!

Also to be fair, people have contributed the names of other local firms and for what it is worth most, if not all of them, are known to me as firms that are respected and do a good job.

As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.
