    Totally agree with you.
How on earth any of that would deter terrorists, drug barons, money lenders, I have no idea.

Seems a bit harsh to lump the banks in with the other two groups ... ;)

Pleased to report that Share Certificates arrived on the 8th June.
Just within the 3 weeks time scale mentioned by many.

    Good to know. Thanks

When I buy these things, do they have to be sold in one go? E.g. if I bought the whole £15k, could I cash in (say) £5k after a year and leave the rest in there?

Yes, you can cash in portions.

The bankers are probably the worst of the lot! They just have the law on their side, that's all ;)

Well, I applied by post quite some time ago now. Of course, I was delighted to see my money coming out fifteen days ago by cheque but alas, still waiting for the certificates. :(

:o I just received my certificate by post. A sigh of relief :)

    Cheers

It's been 3 weeks since I purchased my £10k Savings Certificate and still no acceptance letter. So I rang them today and they confirmed that they have sent the letter to a wrong address half a mile away because the post code database they use is incorrect.

They have promised to correct my address manually and resend the letter, but I am not impressed. I had intended buying further certificates but I don't think I'll bother now.

Do try to avoid cutting off your nose to spite your face. If you were thinking of buying more then I don't really see that your unfortunate mishap should change your view of these certificates as an investment.

I thought these would have sold out by now due to demand. Very surprised that the issue is still available.
