Yup I probably am being a little impatientbut I was assuming I would have to sign something as I have no other investments with NS&I.

Yes, you will have to sign something, but that's so that they can compare the signature when you want to withdraw. It's not really relevant to you putting money in, so it can happen afterwards.
Like lots of companies they can probably verify your id on-line if your on the electoral role.0 -

Hi - Hope someone can help me. I'm quite new here & don't know how to quote, but a bit further back, someone mentioned applications being rejected because the account details given were wrong. My application has been rejected twice. First time I used the no. on my ISA - which clearly says Account holder and gives a number. When this was rejected I dug out my premium bond holder number & tried that, & that was also rejected. I'm at a loss as to what number they mean. I've tried ringing, but it's always engaged - even by the end of the 7am pips on the radio! & again at a few minutes to midnight - I'm sure they just take the phone off the hook! Can anyone suggest what number I should use. At this rate I'll miss out & my investment is currently sitting in a current account awaiting transfer, earning no interest. Thanks.0

Dont use your Premium Bond holders number as it will definitely get rejected as you (and I) have already found out.
I can only suggest you try without quoting a number at all.If the ball had gone in the net it would have been a goal.If my Auntie had been a man she'd have been my Uncle.0 -

If you don't already have any NS&I Savings Certificates you won't have been allocated the correct number which is only used for Savings Certificates.
The NS&I website says -
What you need before you apply
1. Your debit card details
2. A valid email address, so we can send confirmation that we’ve received your application
3. Your customer/holder’s number, if you already hold Savings Certificates you will have a 9 or 10 digit number.
Do not input your 11 digit NS&I number (which starts with 11, 21, 31 or 41).".....where it is corrupt, purge it....."0 -
Thanks for the replies - I'll apply & leave the number blank.0
