They have just taken the funds from my account today from the debit card transaction ....

Happy days!
If Lloyds hadn't decided to cull the Vantage 4% I may well have kept it with them.
I applied online on Sunday evening (already had a certificate) and the money was earmarked when I checked yesterday and it was taken today - 3 working days is usual so can't complain
Good luck to everyone who is/has appliedKeep the Faith:cool:0 -
Hmmm, well the money (just a tiny amount) was shown as 'reserved' on my current account, but now it's not - I wonder what's going on?Stompa0

Interesting to hear about the problems people are having. Applied on Tuesday 12th May as a new customer, money was 'reserved' on my account the following day and then came out of my account some time before the weekend.
Received letter from NS&I on Tuesday (yesterday) asking for signature and returned it this morning.0 -
hi, does it really matter when u apply, if i apply today after the figures have come out, is this ok?
Also, as these are tax free, would it be better if i had these in my partner name (who is tax payer)
then WHEN we get futher savings this may not be around for me to invest therefore i would have my 'non tax payer' allowance elsewhere, if that makes sense?0 -
So, you don't mind using a State facility when it suits!
Hypocrisy is fine but don't thrust it down our necks, thank you.
He is entitled to his opinion and he is right in my opinion. Because of the social bail out of over borrowed reckless people, the prudent savers have to suffer. This 'state run facility' offer is the only way out and goes a little towards redressing the balance.0 -
No less than I would expect from you, dear boy.0

Has anyone who had their debit payment declined by LTSB managed to get it accepted, if so how? I applied yesterday, but am fully expecting my payment to be declined as others seem to have been. Unfortunately, I can't write a cheque out if I needed to re-apply, as I opted not to have a cheque book with all of my Vantage accounts, so am stuck with the debit payment method (if I requested a cheque book it might take too long to arrive).0

With LTSB the block seems to be random. You try making multiple applications and pay from different a/cs (guess you have 3??). 5K would not trigger any blocks.0 -

1066 and other OPs: Lloyds often block the payment made by direct debit card over the phone if it is considered an unusual payment on the account. The fraud protection in place does not differentiate between 1K, 5k, 10K etc, just flags up an unusual payment and there are no specified limits. Furthermore, you cannot inform Lloyds branch or card services in advance that the payments are going to be made. Annoying but that is how it works. Can be a frustating experience if payments are declined and if so, you can phone Lloyds card services on 0845 602 5684 (24hrs) to verify what payments have been attempted and to rectify them. Hope this helps.

I and two other relatives have all applied for certificates over the past week on differt days. We all looked up our customer reference on existing certificates. All 3 of us have received the email saying we got our holder's number wrong. We are all experienced at applying for certificates on-line have never had a problem before. It seems a bit surprising that all 3 of us happened to get it wrong at the same time. However, none of us thought to screen scrape the data we entered before submitting the application so we cannot be sure it is not just a coincidence. I'm on hold on the phone line at the moment (and have been for 30 minutes so far) waiting to sort it out. A relative took and hour to get past the engaged tone before joining the phone queue.0
