Why do people outbid at the last second

I am too tight to go over my max. I always look at the postage and add that in as part of the price then decide what I am willing to pay altogether and that is it. If someone else is willing to go higher than me then Good luck to them

Never get tired of watching you, someday you will break through.....0 -
I dunno why but it feels really good, i can recall numerous occasions where there is 1 minute left, i can see the top bidder and i'm sitting there thinking "little does he/she know there's literally no chance of them getting that item at that price" 3 seconds to go, Bam, my bid is in and either i win the item or the previous high bidder has a proxy bid but ends up paying much more than they would have had i just stayed out of it.Bought, not Brought0

it's ultimate savvy consumerism, the lowest price combined with the double thrill of winning an auction whilst whipping it out from under the nose of some poor unsuspecting not so savvy consumer.:D0

I use auction sniper .If I win ,I win .If I dont then there will be another auction around the corner .0

Just take a look at https://www.auctionsniper.com. It will give you a trial 3 free snipes, and you sign up using Paypal. They charge $0.25 per snipe, I think, so it's well worth it, in my view, for something you really want, but want to keep the price down as much as possible.
There are other sniping programs available, which I'm sure work in just the same way, but I don't know what they are.

Just to clarify, they only charge for succesful snipes.
I use them too - they're great.
I especially like the bidgroup option, where you have the option to bid on multiple auctions until you win one at the price you specify.0 -
You were outbid because somebody bid MORE than you, not because they bid LATER than you.lilmiss wrote:Why do people outbid at the last second. I was bidding on something, and i was gonna give it as a gift for xmas......... i look, and i was outbid in the last 4 SECONDS
You had bid the maximum you were willing to pay, hadn't you?

I now use
http://www.snip.pl/en/
They offer a few free snipes to start you off and then as with the others you only pay for auctions you win. Another one to consider!0 -

. I hate it. It's so cruel!!!. GRRRRR
What do you guys think?.
This age old debate is argued using the most illogical logic!
At the end of the day if you bid the most you are willing to pay... then whether or not you were outbid 2 minutes after you bid or 2 minutes before the auction ends is completely irrelevant.
You basically lost the item because someone was willing to pay more... not because they bid in the final seconds.
This topic drives me mad because ebay is an auction site... just bid the maximum you are prepared to win!0
