Very simple - bidding at the last minute ensures the price stays low. By bidding early you are in effect pushing the price up by inviting others to bid over you. Most people want to pay the lowest possible price !
There are numerous programs available which will bid on your behalf at the last possible moment.

I'd much rather use auctionsniper to bid for me at the last second than bid early on and encourage competition.
  • i always do it to get items as cheap as possible

  • I always bid at the last minute ...I have not heard of auction sniper ..I just do it myself. I do it for 2 reasons ..I get the best price and also it is exciting to be bidding against someone else and win...I know...I should get out more!!!!
I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes ;)

    Cos they are Evil LOL
No I agree with everyone else. I also try to bid in the final minute so that I can get it as cheap as poss. My 14 year old is already a pro at bidding on ebay and has bagged herself quite a few bargains.

I feel guilty about bidding over someone though. If i am watching a item, and someone bids, then i just stop watching it. I feel sooooooo guilty, and i'd feel so bad if i bidded in the last few seconds, i guess i think to much, i think who the bidder might be, like, maybe they really seriously need the item or something :D

That's quite a sweet sentiment - you're possibly a bit too nice for auctions :)
However, if you want to make yourself fell a bit better when bidding competitively then believe that you're trying to ensure the seller gets a fair price for their product.
If somebody really needs something then they'll pay a fair price for it - you have just as much right to bid as anybody else.
    Can I help?

I use a progam to bid for me in the last couple of seconds, it stops me getting involved in a 'bidding war' where I lose control of the price and bid and bid and bid until I have won. Just Snipe is a good program, web based and 5 free snipes each week so nothing to pay!!

    https://www.justsnipe.com

Also when I set my maximum bid, I always add a little bit extra like 37p or something like that. Snipe programs are good at winning auctions, but everyone hates losing at the very last second, as it is out of your control. Remember maximum bid and DONT exceed it !
