Yes Kit, it is so gratifying to see local people coming out in force in some areas to block the way to the rioters and keep their area safe.

I had a loooong lie-in this morning and was supposed to take Bess to the vets at 2.30 pm for her annual booster jab, but Mr 3Dogs forgot and did not get back from auction in time, so I had to cancel and they managed to fit me in for 4.20 pm. She had her jab and then had her nails clipped, cost £35.87 - I had budgetted myself £35 for this but jab had gone up £1 since last year, as had the nail clipping, but I only had to pay £33.24 as I was £2.63 in credit from a previous visit, so it was within budget after all. So that's Bess sorted for another year :D

The vet has started a Health Plan whereby you pay monthly over the year and this covers annual booster jabs, flea and worming treatments, twice yearly health checks, and then you get 10% off anything else, which would include other visits, nail clipping, anal glands, etc. It costs £11.95 for 1 dog, reduced to £10.95 for further dogs. I am going to set this up tomorrow as it would help me budget for these things and also ensure that the dogs get year-round flea and worm treatment which I normally only do this in the summer months due to cost. I am considering cancelling the pet insurance I have on Bess and Billy which costs £17.79 per month, adn just have this health plan for them. The problem with pet insurance is the excess, which is now £90. Most visits to the vet are for minor ailments etc, and you don't get to the excess figure, so end up not benefiting from the insurance. Even if the claim is made, you have to find the £90 excess first, so it is only of benefit for major accidents/ailments, and we would find the money from somewhere if this sort of money was needed as we wouldn't let them suffer. Even better, if I can work it into our budget, I might try to put something aside in a special account to build up a some to be used for larger vet bills. Will need to have a likkle work out and rejig the budget ;);)

I have a pet plan that you pay over 6 months.
When it runs out I am going to ask if I can pay it over 10 months instead.
I have just cancelled Mr N's insurance as it had gone up again & I have had it 10 yeers & never claimed.
So good idea to both me thinks.

Hiya Beanie hun - yes, I am definitely cancelling the pet insurance. As you say, you pay so much over the years and I have only ever had to claim for one of our dogs in all these years. Our tiny little Billy not this one, the one who was killed by another dog - poor thing got mugged by a cat I said he was tiny and displaced his knee so had to have an op on that, then later the other knee went so op on that one too, he had a wart on his eye which had to be removed, and he went in to get 3 teeth removed and ended up taking 9 out so that was costly - so I was very glad I had the insurance for him  But I have never ever claimed on Bonnie, or our first Bonnie before her, nor for our Bess now. No, I don't think we ever claimed for Bimbo or Ben either, so it's just Billy 1 who made his insurance worth it. And, as you say, they keep putting it up every year, and the excess goes up all the time. when the excess was £20 it was very reasonable, but £90!!!!

I talked Mr 3Dogs into doing one hour clearing out the pile of stuff in one corner of the bedroom and we got loads done. We ended up with 2 black bags to take to tip and one black bag plus a box to take down to car boot. We also filled one black bag with winter coats and one with bedding, which went back on the pile, but at least when we do it again tomorrow, these just have to be moved to one side as we delve deeper into the pile  Have put a thick winter throw/comforter to one side to take to lauderette soon, and found another bedspread with matching curtains and pillow shams to put on the bed next time I strip it later this week. I also have a basket full of washing now, with Mr 3Dogs' stuff he had just added to the pile when I have been away  but it felt like a job well done :j :j

Hello i have not been travelling on my booked journeys to London - for obvious reasons. I feel much better the doctor has confirmed i am anaemic and that is the simple reason for why i have been so tired and my diabetes hasn't been improving. The magic freezer is arriving today and then i will go to the pharmacy to pick up my iron tablets.

I am supposed to be sorting out my notes but am watching what is happening to Birmingham where i was born and grew up and went to university on the news and it really is heartbreaking.:( I know it'll all be over soon but this should not be happening. We are better than this.

    Hope you are ok.

Glad it's something as simple as being anaemic [been there] just remember to get some orange juice as well, seeing as it help's the body absorbe iron better.
Sorry about your home town and hope your parent's are safe and well.
I'm ok, just started a stew for tea, it's that cold here, also picked some of my runner bean's and finaly got some broad bean's........ all 3 of 'em.
