Thanks, don't mind traveling around the area and just using it as a base. It was miles cheaper than anywhere else!

Travelodge say there is free parking though??

I've just had a look at TripAdvisor and a couple of people have mentioned parking in the shopping centre car park next door. Presumably TL have some sort of deal with the shopping centre to allow it's customers to park there for free.
The fridge is empty, the walls are damp, there's no hot water

theres a travelodge in kendel (lake district) which is in an ideal spot for all lakes! reviews on trip advisor arent very nice, but we stayed last year and it was excellent and for the £19 we paid (and £10 for our dog) it was good value for money. its a travelodge dont forget, just some where to sleep!
people seem to want to pay budget £9 a room and expect hairdryers, luxury towels and cosmetics, and then grumble when its not in the room, really what do they think?!

North Wales to see a lot of sheep or Lake District to see more than sheep, its a no brainer I thinks !

Been to both loads of times.

IMO The lakes wins hands down. More upbeat, more of it if you like the outdoors.

The Bit round the W/NW coast can be a bit grim.

Whilst North Wales has some nice bits, there are less mountains and the coast is sadder.

I like all 3 areas for different reasons, but leaving aside that the Scottish Highlands isn't a National Park, it is by far the best place for driving around.
At busy times a car is a liability in much of the Lake District unless you like queueing and reversing a lot !

I think Bangor would make a better base - from bangor you can get to colwyn bay, conwy, llandudno, caernarfon, llanberis, anglesey within half an hour so it's a bit more central in my opinion :D

Both areas are really beautiful. I'd go for Llandudno which is a really nice resort and very close to Snowdonia.

Look at booking a pub room, ususally they do food as well, we do weekends in both Lakes and North Wales and there are some great little pubs around both.
