    would it be cheaper for them to buy their sun cream etc out there or is it more expensive? also what was that about the third price, is it something I should warn him about or is it just general bartering? thanks for all of the info guys x

    I think you are probably better off buying things like suncream here in the supermarket. They are widely available in Thailand (Boots and Tescos have a big presence) but sun cream etc tend to be priced for the tourist market.

    Some form of mozzie repellent would be a good idea but it all depends on where they are going and how much the little critters like you.

    Not sure about the "third price" thing but I would recommend having some fun with the bartering as it is expected but don't take it too seriously.
