Best high spec laptop?

Can anyone advise me on what is the best high spec laptop with the following features? I thought something like "What Laptop" would have a list that I'd be able to look through and compare but it didn't.

It needs to have -
at least 1GB memory
high specification processor
inbuilt webcam and mic
wifi
bluetooth
infra red
CD/DVD writer
long battery life and/or spare battery
big screen is not critical but portability is

So, I suppose the bottom line is.... what is the best, fully featured high specification laptop available? I appreciate any help!

I forgot to mention that company policy states that it has to be Windoze... and I'm looking at the £500 one but it doesn't have to be cheap (my budget is about £2,000 but equally I don't want to be taken for a ride, which is why I need help!)

The MacBook is ideal then. It runs Windoze quite happily and has all the features you want, with the added benefit of Apple reliability and MacOSX available when you get sick of Windoze viruses and crashes.

just saw some lovely 17" widescreen laptops in dixons today, HP and Sony versions, very lush, going on my shopping list. worth a look in town, as their spec is very good.

Some of the new Mac notebooks have had production issues.The Macbook Pros had alot of teething problems.The Macbooks(non-pro) also has had some issues but not as many as the Macbook Pro it seems.

Hopefully the production issues have been overcome as the G4 Mac notebooks were quite reliable.

That's interesting, thanks. Most of the listed "faults" have been around for a long time (especially the use of substandard memory) and affected G3s and even earlier.

I must confess that I never buy a Mac model that has been out for less than a year. But the same applies to cars, TV sets and everything else. I used to work in manufacturing and the release of the first production batch was always a nail-biting time as you waited for the customers to discover the faults!

I've never used anything other than Apple since I upgraded from my original BBC Microcomputer. I prefer to be productive. My computer just has to work. I can't afford time to be continually fixing problems with the computer.

My brother swears by Dell but I've also seen him swear at it!
