Only large businesses get broadband delivered to their premises using optical fibres.
For the rest of us the fibres terminate at the telephone exchange or street cabinet.

BT are rolling out FTTC, it uses different equipment in the home.

Talk Talk may not have a version of this for sale as yet.

    They do:
    https://sales.talktalk.co.uk/products/broadband/fibre-optic/check/
But since this service is just a resold BT Wholesale product, checking on the BT Infinity site will tell you if your exchange is enabled for FTTC yet.

Maybe "fibre optic broadband" translates into something disgusting in the local dialect.

Perhaps the call centre reps have not had their training day.

If you intend to stay a TalkTalk customer i strongly reccomend you never speak to anyone from TalkTalk, it will put you off them for life. I understand that they have a web forum for customer support which is better regarded (I never made it that far - very rude, horrible 'customer service' staff on the phones)

OK so the text translates to that but maybe the sound translates as

TALKTALK are shocking from what I have seen. My girlfriend is with them and her internet is down every night.

    Hi asperger,

Niv is correct there is a members forum. However, the only information we have concerning fibre is the information on the link provided by macman.

We have been trying to obtain more info for some time now. It simply isn't forthcoming.

Funny though, the number checker states that I can't have Fibre BB, how wrong it is!
These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!

I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!
