You will be fine as long as your buyer is legit.

I have a similar problem with a freesat box i sold for £40. Buyer claims not to have received so i made a Royal Mail claim. Part of this process is for the buyer to respond to Royal mail confirming that they did not receive the item, however my buyer has refused to do this and my claim has been rejected by RM - I am down £40.

I have tried to communicate with buyer but have received no response. They seemed genuine enough, with +ive feedback of around 250, though their recent feedback is worsening and they appear to have 'lost' items they have shipped as a seller.

Not all buyers are asked to confirm non receipt, it is completely random.

Don't RM flag up persistent claimants? I'm sure that I've read on here somewhere that is the case & the recipient then has to collect their post from the sorting office, or has it been said that is what should happen? If the above buyer loses lots that could be why he was asked to complete the form.
  • ok - thanks everyone.

So basically I have lost the boots.
As I have to pay my buyer back - argh!

Why couldn't it have been something cheap that went missing!!! lol

You will reclaim the money from RM, so you won't have lost the boots you will have sold them.
Say the money is still in your Paypal account, £23 for the boots £4.41 p&p,
You refund that money, £27.41 to the buyer
Then RM refund you, £27.41 for the payment of the boots & the p&p.
Or look on it that you "sold" the boots to Royal Mail, they will send you £23 for the boots & £4.41 for the postage.

hermum, the way you describe it is perfect, I can never think how to explain it without getting garbled.

'look on it as having sold the item to the RM'- brilliant, I iwll try and remember that

You'll lose the ebay listing fees (if there were any), but you'll gain a £1 or so because paypal will refund their fee back to you as part of your refund to your buyer.
Exclamation and question marks - ONE exclamation mark or question mark is sufficient to exclaim or ask about something. More than one just makes you look/sound like a prat.
    Should OF, would OF
. Dear oh dear. You really should have, or should've listened at school when that nice English teacher was explaining how words get abbreviated.

As the item sold anyway through ebay then ebay should still get their fees. It's not their fault the parcel was lost.

Just had my first compensation coming through (I was lazy, this was from December...) and they only paid for the cost of the item + postage, although I claimed for the sale price.
It took only a few days, although I put in a few that have not been processed yet.

I thought I'd let people know as it seems that some poster have been able to get the full price, lucky them.

RM pays the lower of your buying price or Ebay selling price.

People who buy wholesale and sell on Ebay at a higher price get their buying price back as that is their loss.

People selling items they no longer want get refunded the sale price which is normally lower than the retail price they paid.

It sounds as if you buy items in to resell. Presumably you were able to send a replacement so your loss is the lower value.

Things are not as black and white as you seem to think.
RM policy is not applied consistently it seems. Sellers have posted that they don't always give the lower value, maybe by mistake.
If I remember correctly Soolin a few weeks ago was given the sales value instead of the purchase price.
