Im wth you there on th demoralising bit but as you say when you stp back and look at the bigger picture..
Glad to har thingss are going well, not so glad to hear about the tooth and the neck!
Well Im debating copying and pasting this whole thread and putting into a format that I can keep handy for when im feeling low.
I keep telling myself I need to start pinning my ideas and thoughts down as they are some of my most valuable assets.
We have taken major steps back financially recently but we are still here so im taking the view that ive done it before, ill do it again.
Im currently coming towards the end of quite a major hiccup business wise but I am keeping my guard up as I feel it is something that will not just 'go away' Ive done my best by someone but it appears the person is the kind that like to make money unscrupulously (sp?!) which is why I am on guard and not confident that it is over yet. I am however a bit tougher (literally just had the phone call to confirm the end is in sight)
I am now submerging myself in books by branson, sugar, bannatyne etc as im not a quitter!
In 2012 I have achieved so much more than anyone can ever put down on paper, personally, in business & mentally.
Im still a complete wreck if someone shouts at me but I can hide it better now. Im still rubbish at seeing projects through but I know I can now & I know its worth it. Im still rubbish at being methodical and am still so scatty its untrue but now im getting a bit of method to the madness
If I could get all my thoughts and a lot of this thread in to book form im sure I could help other people see it too but thats something to aim for in 2013
For now I am seeing the last 3 days of 2012 from the comfort of my sofa or from the top of our road(also known as the highest point in the Northwest haha)
Im clearing away the cobwebs, writing down all my random thoughts, of which many are whizzing round at the moment, soaking up as much knowledge as possible and generally recharging myself ready to run at 2013 kicking and screamingtrainee millionaire (aka not there yet!)0 -

Tink- I just wanted to say try not to take the criticism personally. Whatever you do in life, there will always be people out to rain on your parade. You will never please all people all of the time, just be true to yourself and ride out the storm.
I've run a family business for 8 years and I wish someone had sat me down and explained the above to me.
It took several years and a few good knocks to reach that conclusion but it's true. Speak to anyone involved in running a small business and they will be able to reel off stories of nightmare customers.
I know it feels personal when you've put your heart and sole into something but it very rarely is.
We are all human and capable of making mistakes. If you make a mistake, be honest, learn from it and rectify it to the best of your abilities. If you have done all you can and are still recieving criticism, the problem is their's not yours.
Rise above it. Don't let it dent your confidence or vision and focus on the happy customers and the jobs done well.
You have done so well.0 -
Happy New Year to All Millionaires To Be
May your dreams and plans start to come to fruitiontion.
Let's make 2013 a corker;).0 -
Well after sleeping until 6pm today (!!!!!!!) I have just had a delightful couple of hours sorting through my finances (I know I know im so rock and roll)
As I finished paying my catalogue off earlier in 2012 I hav just shredded all my old statements (dont worry they went to online statements years ago so I have a back up) It felt so good watching the ones that said almost £5000!!!!
Ive jusst updated my spreadsheets that I use for my bank account.
Over the year I have a sheet for each month showing every transaction from my main account & I also have a front page showing what payments I have each month via direct debit, standing order etc. It includes everything from school dinner money to loan payments & isnt a nice read really as it shows exact expenditure each month.
It also has outstanding balances on all debts - which now is just british gas & my loan.
Over the year this page gets messy as I calculate different things & then never delete any of it so it becomes very cluttered & means my brain is the same.
I have now deleted all the junk, reconfirmed all my payments, deleted any direct debits that no longer apply & have just clicked print so I can stick it on my fridge to keep me motivated (& try & show my husband exactly what I worry aabout/work out each month)
I feel clearer already and ive not even started to compare insurance etc!On to that tomorrow evening.
Just about to type up my goals for 2013 and stick them on the fridge next to it. Some of my goals are small personal ones, others are financial ones, all of them are achieveable so long as I work hard enough at them. I try not to make them too silly like £10000 in the bank by 2014 but I also make sure they arent easy things either as wheres the fun in that?!
Hope you are all well & keeping positive. Ive still got a long way to go but im feeling a lot more positive. It really does help to write down achievements so far as it makes you realise how tough you are :-)
Glad to hear everyone is making steps, some big ones, some small but all in the right direction!trainee millionaire (aka not there yet!)0 -
Happy new year from a millionaire in training from Scotland everyone...Xmas and new year in my first home has been amazing, many frugal nights in and hard work getting place how I want it ahead but looking forward to it! There was 6 negitave points on this place when I got the keys, however after me being here less than 3 weeks it's Down to 3 and the 3 remaining are all booked in to be done in January so come end of January I will have a faultless home with some really nice stuff inside it
Tomorrow is being spent here sorting out 3 weeks worth of washing now we have a brand new washing machine for it! And got an hours workout to look forward to (had weights since I was 16 just had no room to use them, they now have a room to themselves!!) and some cooking to look forward to aswel.
Small things that I believe many take for granted. Internet connection set up on Friday. Can't wait!:eek:Living frugally at 24

Fantastic progress there YB Sounds like you're having a lot of fun and really enjoying your new home. I think it's a good idea to spend some time getting yourself sorted and organised - makes a good launching pad for all your plans.
I too have found a little niche to set up my sons' weight machine and my exercise bike - so no excuses for me either.....Also aiming to pick up a cross trainer or stepper.
I'm just having a little lunch break, am surrounded by boxes. We move on Friday. Even though it's only rented we can make it a nice cosy, clean and well ordered base from which to launch Phase 2 of my master plan.
I will be moving from the south side to the north side of our city so renting is great because I can really get to know the areas in which I want to start buying.
Hoping you are feeling a little better Tink. Try not to get too downhearted - we all have setbacks. The trick is just to keep going. You've done really well building up your business. Don't forget you also have a young family so have lots of committments in your life.
Don't forget to rest occasionally and build in some fun. Take the long view. For most of us becoming a millionaire or even half a millionaire is a marathon not a sprint.
This time last year I was a mess. I had just had to concede defeat and put my OH in a nursing home. I was guilt ridden, upset, stressed, ill and almost destitute. I had no income and was living off my almost depleted savings.
A year later I have replenished my savings, I have a passive income adequate for my needs, my health is improved and I'm about to move house ready to start rebuilding my net worth and more importantly start having some fun. 2013 is the year I finally get to stop existing and start living again.
Life is an adventure.
Time for a little nap and then back to filling some more boxes.0 -

So many of my fb friends post that up, or similar, "got sooo much revision to do so....time for a nap!!"
Always get slightly curious if they are serious, i have enough trouble sleeping at night/for longer than 6 hours without a half hour shut eye through the day!!
Noone got rich sleeping all day!:eek:Living frugally at 24

I call them power naps, usually around 4-00 pm for about 20 minutes.
Apparently history is littered with high achievers who believed in naps.
The Duke of Wellington who once said "Never stand when you can sit, never sit when you can lie down" was a great advocate of the day time nap.
Winston Churchill was a prodigous "napper". Maggie Thatcher only slept 4 hours a night but had a short catch up nap during the day.
I consider myself in good company.;)
I've napped in the day ever since I can remember, even as a youngster when I burned the candle not only at both ends but in the middle too.
I think it is my habit of taking a short nap that gives me my stamina. Without sounding too conceited I know that I do more and achieve more than most people my age. I think this is because I have learned how to pace myself and my little naps are just part of the process.
The trick of course is to find a way of earning money even when you are sleeping - the ultimate in passive income.:rotfl:
Two great positives for me today.
1. Moved into our new house, all went smoothly.
2. I have in the past had a brush with skin cancer. I saw my GP today because I had noticed some further changes. This time we've caught the little blighters before they have had the chance to become cancerous so all that was required was a guick blast with liquid nitrogen - no surgery, no scarring. Wahoo!!
So a few days of getting straight and organised and then time to get on with a major financial review. (Yes, Tink, I agree not exactly rock'n'roll but hey it is fun in it's own way).
A couple of months rest, getting fit and healthy and then it's look out world here I come.......0
