Quiet here. I just thought I hadn't been on here in a while and was expecting lots of updates haha :-)
Busy bee over here - somehow I've managed to get on top of things today and I'm working on today's orders as we speak whilst kids are asleep.
My eldest has been ill had missed his christmas play..his first one!! I nearly cried. Is that bad? Oh well.
Looking into getting a franking machine. I'm going to have another go at trying to find the manufacturer of my items after Xmas as I go through a middle man atm - no idea where to start but I know they are made in the UK.
I showed a picture of my items packaged up and ready to go to my Dad to show him the quantity and he said you must be able to find a way to make this work. Well at my current prices of £1.99 I make about 35p for one item (but the buy 1 get one 50% is really going well, so that goes up to 80p for 2 items) but if I get a franking machine that takes it up to 50p per single item...which is not *to* bad then consider you sell more then 1 sometimes....then if I could get my items cheaper by buying in bulk well... it might just make it worth while.
I've even considered going into another item but they are a lot bigger. I can get 500 items into a box where as this other venture if I stacked up 100 boxes they would fill a corner of a room.... plus I would need new printer (so I'd be running two printers wouldn't be able to get rid of my old one) a new machine and ...space really but I think this could be the difference from me being a 'stay at home mum with a eBay business' to a full time actually going somewhere business ....
But then theres the stopper of it I want to make it into something bigger, I can't keep up with demand as it is - that said my partner is going stir crazy and I think if we were to make enough money he would come join me instead of going out to work.
See you on the other side - hope everyone is going well.People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
Hi LL - reading your post just put a smile on my face.
I came in here to post how annoyed I am.
As per my last post. I finally made enough for my machine, I am to be paid next week, well I just got my pay emails through and I'm £70 short, so I messaged the company and they say sorry. But the entire project needs to be finished. so it will be paid next month. Grrrr.
Now here's the thing, I get paid from my normal job tomorrow, but also again next week, next weeks wages were to go towards my ticket to new York, well £150 of it anyway, I'm waiting on some cheque's etc, the last installment of the ticket money would be acquired on 8th January and be booked that day, I wanted to wait until the January flight sales. I can still get my machine, but my problem is I'm not good with putting money back where it belongs, I like to spend it.
Going to make it my resolution to try and put money back where it belongs, sorry for the shambles of an explanation.
I guess I just like money to buy what it is being allocated for, no crossovers because I know what I'm like.Lose 28lb 3/28lb

It's hard to make that million! Thats what stands out from night ryder and Kaya - from me too, actually - I haven't been doing much, though I've finally started to do some designs for cards - I really thought I'd manage to get some out for Christmas, but no chance. If I can do my accounts from the counselling business by New Year, I might have a chance of doing some Valentine's Day/anniversary designs, we'll see.
I've announced my retirement to everyone who needs it said to them personally now, so it'll be going on the website next week, that'll free me up again to focus on what I want to be doing for the future.
I started December with a list of 34 items that would be great to do, and half a dozen of them were new-business related, with another four or five being old-business related, as well as the ongoing work, such as it is - I'll get there.
LL - you sound like you've had a blast :j:j:j Great to see you2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Good moring everyone.
I have been keeping an eye on this thread but it has been quiet but burst back into life yesterday!
So what do I have to report? Firstly I have now paid back off 90%, this however does not include any interest accrued, which my dad has been paying for me.
I still haven't heard a start date for my new job as yet but I have heard about my company car. It was supposed to arrive in Jan but has already been put back until early Feb.
Today is another milestone for me as it marks 3 years off gambling, I still find it crazy to look back on the life I was leading back then but there is nothing I can do about that now I just have to keep looking forward and keep doing what I am doing, I will make that million, it just won't be from the lottery!
So I have been looking into where I am with my NAV. As I haven't had my house valued or know exactly where I am in terms of pension, I have a rough figure of 90k. Looking at it like that maybe I won't make a million after all, it won't stop me trying though.LBM: Dec 2012 - Debt £38,180/ Now £0.

Muhren, congratulations on three years clean from gambling!
Is NAV your net value? If you're managing that while such a short while away from gambling and still paying off debts, there's no reason you shouldn't eventually be a millionaire. Keep going!
And don't worry about it getting quiet at this time of year - RL has a lot of faffing about for all of us right now, even me at my low energy levels (Christmas cards are a big deal, and a couple of emails explaining why I won't be taking part in family meets that involve travel)...2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Thanks Karma!
NAV - Net Asset Value. I have included my house (minus mortgage), car, shares, pension, student loan and current debt.
I know it is an expensive time of year for everyone but I hope it is also an enjoyable one. I do like this time of year and I am looking forward to having a couple of weeks off over the festive period.LBM: Dec 2012 - Debt £38,180/ Now £0.

Kayalana, do you mean a franking machine for postage? I really wouldn't - I have several friends who've been totally screwed over contract-wise with them. Take a look at Royal Mail's PPI (Postage Paid Impressions) service, which I had for my online/eBay business. They've brought the entry requirements down, so you only need to send 1,000 items a year to qualify now.0

Ah really? I will have a look at that thank you. Was seriously considering one but I will do some googling on reviews of the company etc and see what the above is many thanks!
Edit: It's so annoying everyone keeps going on about small white post envelopes but I send large letters out and it's so hard to find the information!People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
Good afternoon millionaires to be.
What a filthy day, glad to be home, nice and cosy.
I've caught up with the thread now. Lots of positivity and good progress.
Muhren - great news about the new job. :T
Night Ryder - great news about the machine.
Caz - some great progress there too.
Listerbelle - my eldest one didn't keep much either, you have my sympathy, it will get better.
Kay - yes go for another sideline business, the more eggs in your basket the better.
Karma - 41 weeks. Wahoo.
Tink - you're a girl after my own heart. Always fighting back. Well done on turning everything around. And no I don't like "Brits abroad" either.
There were some really rude ones on the cruise I'm afraid. They treated the crew and staff like dirt. I tore a strip off one guy for his behaviour. . Politely and with a Smile of course.:rotfl:
I love "wreck of the week";)
My holiday was fab.
Met some great inspirational people. Some retired, some just having a rest between projects.
One thing I did learn.......I need to think bigger, take a few more chances, Carpe diem and all that......
Yes And I definitely agree About goal setting. It keeps me focussed.
Ready to get cracking again in the new year.
Definitely looking forward to the festive season.
It starts tomorrow for me with a trip to Chatsworth, see the house decorated up, slap up lunch and then the farm shop to stock up on posh nosh and Christmas goodies.
Should be fun.0 -
