Thats a really good point - to be honest, some of my difficulties over the last few years have been because I ignored this
and this month, instead of finishing the accounts and starting straight away on the next money making idea, I've been working on getting things tidy, and even clean, dare I say it :rotfl: it makes a huge difference!
This is how I roll:rotfl:
I find I'm not very good at working from chaos. This is why I decided not to live "on site" during the renovations, even though I do resent paying good money on rent. I realised I had to have somewhere clean and tidy (and warm) that I could work from.
My sons are quite happy to rough it, although DS1 has a higher tolerance of chaos than DS2. DS2 is getting a bit fed up now which is why we are pushing so hard on property 2, aiming to get it habitable by end April. Once we get the plastering done and my bedroom decorated then I will move in.
I can cope with mess everywhere else as long as I have a nice clean bathroom and bedroom to relax in at the end of a long day.
Prop 2 will become our "base camp" whilst we tackle no 3 and begin our ascent on the £1m challenge.
At least I won't be wasting money on rent after March. Like Ray Kay I really need to start rebuilding my savings ...
Every so often I take time to have a good declutter, sort out my accounts and paperwork. I also extend the same principle to my living environment - I like everything to be organised. I do find it easier to work from a clean, organised space. It seems to unclutter my head and I get to sleep better.
Ray Kay - you are doing so well. You have a very young baby and you are managing your house renovations. Once you are in your new home and everything is neat and organised you should find it much easier to focus on some additional income streams.
Buffy - glad to hear all is OK. I think you are right, flexibility is key and maybe a full time permanent job is not the best option for you.
BTW It's very flattering of you to say that I have inspired you a little.;)
Just keep going and it will all come right in the end.0 -

My eldest is ill again (not to bad although was sick alot in night but hes alot chripper now) - but on a positive note everyone was asleep right through till 11 today and as I wanted to stay in bed but couldn't sleep I grabbed my laptop and managed to get that big job done...only took me 4 hours !!!
Sorry to hear this, hope your little man perks up soon.0 -
Ray Kay, I am priming and painting them. I do them in a sort of 'boy racer' style. I use fire retardant paint so they are still suitable to house petrol. Makes them nice for car/bike fanatics to keep in their garage and such. Only done a few so far for family and friends but I have had several enquiries and people seem to favour the vintage style cans0

For all you slackers out there…….
A new game - I thought I'd call it Motivation Week.
I thought we could post up some motivational sayings or tips, so please send 'em in.
Here's mine for today.
"Be the one who volunteers to get rid of the dead mouse and the spider".
In other words, roll up your sleeves and get stuck in……
Doing the jobs no-one else wants is often where the money is……
Or as we say "Oooop North"
"Where there's muck, there's brass
So now I'm off to prop 2 to get covered in plaster and brick dust.;)
Oh the glamour of it all :rotfl:0 -
Well mines going to be my sig, we here live each day to the full all the time but I think the saying itself has a bit of an extra kick of meaning.
Each days a gift and not a given right.
We should appreciate everyday and making use of its full potential today will mean a happier tomorrow.

Sold two of my wedding line so far :-) It's a good startPeople don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
Loving the motivational sayings! I have two, but one of them is only one word - in fact, I'm going to put this into my sig, I don't care if it looks too deep or too mystical.
The first bit is the word ABUNDANCE, I went on a trip to Stonehenge at the beginning of September last year, and it clicked with me, from something someone said. The other is a single line from a Ralph Marston quote that I printed out from here, and stuck onto a kitchen cabinet: "your destiny does not care about your past".
Which becomes:
"Your destiny does not care about your past: live in abundance".2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

I doubt that's anything more than an urban myth, along with the other old chestnut "every so often you should redeem old ones and buy new, as old ones have less chance of winning". People spout these things out because someone else told them, not because there are any statistics to support it.
My own opinion is, if you've decided to put 'x' amount into Premium Bonds, and you have that amount available now, then buy them all now - the earlier you get in there, the more monthly draws you'll be in, and of course that's about the only thing that will affect your chances of winning - being in the draw.
ETA - hope the above doesn't sound grumpy, it's not intended that way.0 -

Great to hear from you YB - was wondering how you were.
Well done on starting on the savings again - and you've got the lighter evenings coming up so you can do some extra work outside the normal 9 to 5.
Spring is just round the corner…….
Time to get busy.0 -
Well I had a great idea for a new business venture (well a copied one but I worked out the profit margins ka-ching to say least...)
E-mailed my Dad about it as I needed him on board only to get a straight no but nice e-mail about a guy he knows who owes him £100 and has 6 different businesses on the go all that are well capable of making money but because he doesn't get one moving before he moves onto the next...and how I need to stick to what I know and is working... (I'm wondering if this is a true story now lol) + just to keep going and focus on getting into property ASAP.
I guess if theirs one person I should listen to though its him.
Got my head down today, got about 20 new listings up including completing the wedding collection one...still a lot of updating to do with them but they are up and for sale which is the main thing.
Moved onto fancy dress... that's a big one. Listed 3 tonight but off to bed now so more to do tomorrow.
Need to keep focused.People don't know what they want until you show them.0
