Hi!
I have been invited to my friend's husbands birthday party... does anyone have any suggestions as to what to get a 40 year old guy for his birthday?
I'm not sure what a 40year old would like for his birthday though..
Would i be able to get anything decent for around £40 or £50?
ideally i'd like something thoughtful (although i've thought about it for a while now and no ideas yet!) or something useful/fun.
Any suggestion would be really appreciated!!

You'll need to give us some idea of what he's into first really. I should think that £40 or £50 would be a really quite high budget so I'm sure someone'll come up with something if we know what he likes.0

Why don't you ask your friend what her husband would like?
My SIL provided us all with a list of 'wants' for my brother's 40th earlier this year, and also mentioned that he was saving up to get a new surround system, so cash gifts would also be welcome. And that's what most of us went for in the end, and he picked out the surround sound sytem he wanted with the pooled money.
Edit: Oh yes, and I only gave 40 quid, cos I can't afford much more than that, and it's already more than I would usually spend on a Birthday.February wins: Theatre tickets0 -
Is he a football fan? What about a team shirt with his name and the number 40?Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

How about a football / rugby shirt for his favourite team, tickets for a show or if they a have a holiday coming up then currency to spend while away.
Otherwise how about teaming up with some friends and getting vouchers for a nice local restaurant and getting enough to pay for dinner & drinks.0 -

haha that was my first thought until i noticed hes married
anyways echoing what others have said, talk to your friend and find out the sort of things he might like,
maybe club together with another friend/s and buy a driving etc experience dayDrop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0 -

I'd be surprised if he really cares much, tbh!
Last 40th we were at the bloke said no presents, but let us know there would be an envelope for collecting money for his favourite charity if anyone was really flush!
what DH did was got a picture of a shop involved in one of the "stories from when they were teens" - we're talking the stuff of legend that the 40 year olds still talk about to this day - and got it printed on T shirts with little comments on it ( total cost about £5 each iirc) then handed them out to the people involved in the story that were at the party - it went down a treat and wasn't seen as a gift because a few people got the T shirts, and it made for a great talking point for the ones who knew him as a stuffy civil servant but not when he was a teen.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

Thanks for all the great ideas (maybe not so much the 20 year old) lol
I'm not 100% sure what type of things he is into, I know he loves football, but then again I dont, so all I know is that he doesn't support one of the major teams ;-) Will have to check with my friend who his team is!
I wasnt sure whether to ask her if there's anything specific he wants, but will definitely do so now as well as considering all the above options. thanks guys!** i didn't lose my mind, i sold it on ebay **0 -
