It's about moderation skint, why don't you build into your budget a little treat each month. Not only will it motivate you, but it means you might not get to this point when you feel its all about everyone else. It can be something simple like a nice little case of wine (25% off 6 bottles quite often in Mr T ;)), or maybe a £20 groupon deal for a massage or something. That way everyone else can have their budget and you can have yours. Also, means you don't have to eat into your windfall xx Julie.

  • Most of the windfall is for work at the other house Julie, cos I need that finishing and we need the rental income. Pfft! I want a speedboat and a pair of slippers made from babies laughter. Wont get that with a steak night budget!

I am getting my hairdo when I am on my weeks leave in October - its a friend of mine who does it, and I will get the kids hair done too. Thanks for the offer of a freebie Jelly! My hair is long, and I have had a perm about 8 months ago its naturally straight as a die, and I got so booored with it. Its in great condition and it curls nicely - I can scrunch it up and have 80s big hair and I often tie it up and have it kinda falling down I have traily curly bits. However to keep it nice I need a trim and a sort. I will keep it long and keep the perm in the ends as long as I can.

I also have a colour on it. Its a base of chestnut with gold highlights and red lowlights. I was naughty on holiday though and even though I have flat dark brown hair normally I get a blonde fringe if I am in the sun alot. And I didnt wear a hat on holiday so I have more gold at the front. It looks ok. However I dont spend a lot of time doing myself up but I do simple stuff like highlighter and polyfiller , and I dont like to faff, but I do like to have certain things, nice hair for work, look smart, have nice makeup (dont buy all the time but do buy quality) like benefit clarins clinique and dior, and I like to smell expensive cos that doesnt half dress up primark. So any Xmas presents tend to be Scented or cleansing.

And thats it really I have simple but pricey wants and needs.I know the husband will balk when I get my next mascara, but I have had this one 15 months and its still fantastic - ok so it was 16 quid, but its just the one I like. He will think nothing of buying a hardback book for 35, after saving his treat budget. Wheras I would buy it in paperback....

I think my spends are open to comment and critisism more, with being "mam". You know how it is. MY daughters say things like "wish i could afford expensive things like mam does"

Even DD1, who will spend at least 15 pounds per month on assorted cosmetics, three rimmel items etc. My combined spend over a year works out at about £2 a month, and alot of the time I use my Christmas and Birthday money to pay most of it anyway. I just feel a lot of guilt when I have these things, even though its a rare occurance when faced with the realisation they are luxury items, and my girls "cant afford them".

However, I do purchase them bits for Christmas this year they have a bad gal lashes and a high beam each from benefit so far. In my opinion these are classic items and I cant go wrong with them. If I got them vouchers they would just get a million rimmel eyeshadows. Pfft.

Also, today was payday. I have thrown a load more money at debt than I really want to think about. Haha.

I am feeling ok, will get my hair do and will go out in 2 weeks and get DD2 wardrobes, and a couple of brightly coloured jumpers to dress up my jeans for the winter. I will also book my hairdo and the kids hairdo tomorrow.

Next holiday countdown is centreparcs, three weeks today!

Its not all doom and gloom, I am just a moody creature this week.

Stomach pains are back again. Doctors this afternoon...

  • Hairdo sounds a fab idea and your hair sounds gorgeous!

I'm with you on the quality slap rather than quantity. Touche Eclat has saved my bacon on more than one occasion! I usually use No7 stuff because it feels *really* expensive but with their 3 for 2's and £5 off vouchers it is so cost effective - I love it!

Fantastic news about hubby's promotion!! And :j whoop to 3 stars :D
  • My hair has been a work in progress for many years. I have given up on any fashion trends and just do what I like these days.

    :-)

  • I have to go to the bank at lunchtime and get the grocery money for the next 4 weeks out. This is the "getting ahead with the monthly bills" thing.

Also I am getting the saved electric money out and as we have a prepayment key will pop it on there too.

Am buying M n S tiffin for me and best work friend today- he has been great support. We need a tiffin time, and we can look at pictures of Johnny Depp.
