Oops - done that already. Was I supposed to not whack him if I love him?!
I am ashamed to say, I got home last night and had a mini breakdown._pale_ I am really really ashamed. The scaffolding on my house has stopped the satellite signal, couldnt even put Peppa Pig on for DS. Had a letter from tax maffin credits, they HAD sent me a 250 rebate last week... they sent me a demand for 210 this week, - was on the phone for 2 hours end to end sorting it out. Have already utilised the 250- its gone. Had to arrange installments, tagged on the end of the other installments. Had to ring scaffolders, and arrange dish to be sorted (need Peppa Pig if I am conducting enquiries into what the heck is going on with Tax Credits!)
as a result my mam is doing the rest of my ironing. :embarasse
First of all result on the ironing.
That's no meltdown - you ought to see me full throttle meltdown! Tears, tantrums and usually ends with me flouncing off to the airport to make a point:rotfl::rotfl:.
Understandably hun, you are under so much stress, but doing such a fine job of muddling through - running a family's finances etc that people don't notice just how tough it is. You are fabulous, an inspiration to me and many others on here.
Most of all, your funny posts keep me laughing and motivated:D.LBM 30/6/9 Unsecured debts [STRIKE]£25,323.48[/STRIKE] £0 :T Debt free

I totally agree - you are doing fab. It is so hard juggling everything to keep it ticking over, even stretching to running smoothly. We do everything behind the scenes for very little but usually no recognition.

Hey Skint!
Have finally caught up!
Haven't got much to add to what peeps have already said - but you are doing amazingly well and you really really are an inspiration! With your life being so hectic its only natural that occasionally Operation Meltdown will commence, but we all need a good cry at times!
Just keep focussing on Operation Handbag-full-of-tennersxxx

Sorry to butt in on your thread, skint! but I have read your thread and you say that you have reduced your debt by get some settlements ie. the 22k for 8k - I am in the same position and trying to get settlements on four cards - successful with mbna but can you tell me how it has affected your credit file etc ? I don't know what to do really have four cards which have approx 20k on them which I can't afford - if I go on a dmp for five years will my credit file still be affected once its finished ? or is it better to bite the bullet try and get settlements and just run my remaining cards which have a few hundred pounds on as clean as I can and wait for six years - I have cut every thing and am fighting a losing battle with paying the cards - your take on your experience with settlements would be appreciated0

Thankyou thankyou thankyou all... head well and truly given a shake, and onwards onwards...
Had a day off today, was feeling wrung out and thought, why not. Spent time with DH and DS and went to Lidl and mr sainsburys, and picked DD2 frm school.
Went for a foraging dog walk, 2 carrier bags of firelighting sticks and half a tub of blackberries, and called in to see DD1 en route (did not go in with a soggy German Shepherd and Retriever however, they were minging...)
Husband making some spaghetti and squid combi, am doing my batch cook tomorrow.
Tomorrow am also seeing BIL for his birthday, and then taking kids out for a jaunt. On return I will iron a half hour and then its more sitting.
Am a bit under the weather - feel fragile...so Dh making me take it easy, appointment with the counsellor on Tuesday...
but a nice day, not a no spend day as Ive done shopping xxTrying to shift that debt!0 -

Hi there and its absolutely n problem we are all here to help each other.
Well for me the debt was old, the defaults were no longer a real issue. If you have defaulted you get better settlement figures.
then its already on your credit file. If you want to negotiate a figure to clear balances early, thats a whole different tack. Your credi fle is affected when it defaults and they will probably default you on a DMP.
Id pay them what you can afford, they will still default you, take the credit file hit and try and get a good f & f settlement out of them once youre in a position to shift it. If thats the case anyway...
But please, get some advice, it worked for me but my credit file is still appalling and will be for another couple of years.Trying to shift that debt!0 -
as you know I am in mid meltdown today. Tears are flowing way too easily. I had pulled myself together earlier and DS came into the lounge and asked if he could have a hamster. Now he has had 2 hamsters before and was a rubbish owner. I always had to remind him to take care of it and he was just terrible. I said no. I then refused to talk about it and he went on and on and on until I turned round and said ' what do you not understand? you're not getting an effing hamster' Do I feel guilty now? Oh god yes
. Never mind cos he has told me since that I am amazing and he loves me so obviously no lasting damage done :rotfl:
