    Whoop Jollydays!!

Yesterday afternoon I took the lavish step of calling the tax credits line.

Now, you might say tut tut, that was a pointless exercise. You rang last week, and last week all bars were lifted and the claim could be processed. Well, yes, that is what they said on the phone.

I rang and pressed any buttons to speak to a human being, as none of the options I felt were appropriate, and I didnt feel like waiting four weeks from my last contact to see whether I might or might not have any tax credits at the end of it...

I spoke to a most helpful young man. Oh dear, our record had been flagged *again*...

There was a discrepancy. Lordy! And it related to the other house.

Now, because we are having to do things at the other house which requires ID proving we live at the other house we had to have some things delivered to the other house, to provide proof of address.

One of those was our payslips and this directly affected our tax and yup, tax credits. But what bothers me more about this situation as its now AUGUST this would have sat on our record until the end of september. Bear in mind since April Ive rang in 4 times. (3 times in the last three weeks) and sent off the printed form PLUS sent off a change of circumstances in writing when I couldnt get through on the phone.

Basically, I returned my claim at the end of May. I rang the end of June and went through it all again. And on it goes.

Anyway, Ive decided to ring them again next week, just to see whats happening now. As they dont ring you if theres a problem... it just sits there... and if its 4 weeks since you spoke, well you are up the creek...

I finished the ironing cupboard last night.

I will have to do that again tonight as its a GLORIOUSLY sunny day and my lines are full to the gunnels. I will do masses more washing tonight as the weather is set to be nice tomorrow too.

Im really tired today and may have to purchase a large caffiene fulled coffee from the canteen. Ive resisted so far...

Anyway, no money in today, and things are rolling along as tightly as ever. Can still make the holiday fund, and the bills, but a nice little tax credits windfall would have eased the way....

  • I went to Wilkinsons at lunchtime. I dont know how I coped BW (before wilkinsons.)

20 washes of bold washing powder, £4. Thats not bad for bold. I like named brands as everyone is so mucky.

A pack of pegs, for all the washing and because pegboy nicks off with the pegs and I have gone from having a basket and some shabby spares to half a basket....

Some superglue for the running repairs we seem to have to do alot.

I forgot lady razors. I need them before holidays, as I have legs like chewbacca.
Must do my eyebrows too, as my eyebrows are like Dennis Healey.

Im a quirky hybrid of unwanted hair.

  • Another lavish step taken with a call to Lloyds "where is my PPI" etc. They have not even provided me with figures, and they are meant to. Should recive something pretty swiftly via email.

So I am pursuing that today as todays project. Might chance my arm with a tax credits call tomorrow.

These are no small sums and they are owed to me. I in turn owe bigger sums out! However, this will alleviate some of the immediate stuff and reduce things in the longer term.

Ive continued to make payments against things with the miniscule amount of tax credits which came in today of 18.07. Also I had had a refund from Amazon for a return of something, and that was used too. I made payments (minumum of £5) to each of my allotted things.

the holiday fund also got a fiver. My minumum payment cycling is almost complete, and ive made payments towards my rent via the credit card, and once it clears its then credited to the rent. I figure the more I pay in a month even if I am paying off credit card helps with the whole interest thing (30 days free and that) in the longer term.

    So I do that too.

My ebay is tapering off now, and its fine. I will do some listings and have them ready in tubolister to pop on on the thursday before we go, as well as the unsold stuff I have.

Im going to start and try to do the odd survey again. working full time and doing batch cooking general housework etc I dont have much available time really.

Will try and do ten minutes a day on them. Well, will try to...

Also going to move some of my standing orders to better times of the month. I get paid and most of that disappears, but I have scope mid month and I think it would be easier for the standing orders for the savings stuff to come out then just for the wriggle room.

Right, will update when I get anything back from Lloyds!

Lunchtime - I dont think I want anything apart from lady razors. My eyebrows are still like possessed caterpillars... oh the shame of it.

Kids were a handful last night, and once DH was in I got the ironing all done, again... however we are back to the status quo this morning with full lines of washing and the washer was on as I left the house at 07.15.

Perhaps it will be groundhog day.

On a lighter note, I have the remainder of today to work (til 15.55) and then I have a half day tomorrow, and I am off for 2 weeks.

Wine o clock every night, haha.

Enjoy! and dont spend the whole time on the phone to Lloyds and Tax Credits
One small step for ME, one giant leap for my family!

2015 - my Amazon Gift Certificate mini challenge - saving to buy small household electrical items.

  • Completely demoralised by tax credits "helpline" you have to be kidding.

so you earn 19 thousand pounds LESS than the previous year. You have another child. You pay out 150 a week for childcare.

Your award remains at 18 pounds per week despite as a couple last year earning under 28 thousand pounds.

    Hows that work??

  • Hey SBO!

Just popping in from DF2012's diary to say hello!

I've read your whole diary and I'm completely gobsmacked at how much you get done! You're a true inspiration!

Have you tried running last years circumstances through the calculator on the tax credits website? Might give you some extra ammunition for an appeal. Tax credits are so complicated, I have to get my dad (a certified accountant of 30 years) to check my renewals!
  • I did, thanks winnie. It says 120 quid, latest from tax credits.. a tenner, stopping in October! Think I need to compose a letter. The sods.
Best get on with me jobs, and plan my next ebay campaign!

I'm a bit of a whingy thing today..
