    and i dont know of anyone who goes to the council and asks for a council house and expects to get one, it doesnt work like that. you apply,you recieve your banding according to priority/need, and you bid for houses that are advertised each week.

    i expect your friends were told that they would have a long wait so decided to give up. and out of frustration you blame this on 'parasites' that live in council houses and stop you and your friends from getting one

    No they were advised to go for a private rent because they were very unlikely to be given a house.

    the council will always advise that, thats what they said to me. its their way of trying to push people into the private sector and keep waiting lists down
    Even a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day, and for once I'm inclined to believe Withnail is right. We are indeed drifting into the arena of the unwell.

    And yet the North West is one area where private rented properties are CHEAPER than social housing. Maybe it was just good advice if all they wanted was to save for a deposit.

    Yes its just a polite way of saying pi55 off you have got no chance of a house.

    Thought we were done, get your head down anyway you will want to be up early in the morning to go and check my claims, you wont want to be on that estate on a saturday afternoon i can tell you.

    And yet I showed you how single people in the North West were being allocated social housing without priority and after only a few months (weeks in some cases).
