self diagnosis on DLA claim form

dla is nothing to so with your illness or condition but EVERYTHING to do with care and or mobility needs you have, and is awarded on that basis and that alone0

Aspergers and bi-polar carry similar symptoms so to have both would probably indicate further scrutiny from the decisions makers as previously advised. You would also find similar symptoms in a range of other mental health issues. Better to state your needs than put forward diagnosies.
Eh ???? care to elaborate?

kurgon is correct (or so several psychiatrists have advised me!) - that link isn't something I would post as an authority.Gone ... or have I?0 -
why don't you request a referral from your GP for an assessment for ASD (in my area this process takes up to 2 years or so) and tell your gp you are applying for dla and why.
and in the mean time fill out your application by saying you have requested an assessment. that way when DWP contact the GP, they can at least confirm a referral for a DX has been made.
good luck0 -
PS can anyone post any real evidence re the link between AS and BPD?0

The best way I think to describe it is that my moods are bipolar, my social skills aspie? I have a formal diagnosis for bipolar, but whilst psych's agree I am most likely on the scale they see no point in formally diagnosing it as one diagnosis is enough (the joys of the NHS!). Conversely, with juveniles they are far more likely to diagnose aspergers for someone with the same symptoms because it fits more into the norm.Gone ... or have I?0 -

I read that DMs are fond of saying people choose these behaviors, just that they prefer not to. So its best to say its because of your mental health conditions.
I did get an ESA assessment and successfully got ESA I'll have to look at the report.0 -
But how can you say that it's because of a condition that you haven't been diagnosed with?0
