EGG Card PPI

Hi Folks,

I tried to claim my PPI back from egg re. credit card about 18 months ago. They declined stating that I checked the box for PPI on the web when I applied for it. I disagreed as I remember that it was pre checked. With the banks now admitting thier error is it worthwhile trying again to get my money back.

Any advice would be great

Thanks

    Hi there

They may but I would not guarantee it.
Did you receive a final decision on your complaint? they normally provide details of the financial ombudsman service (FOS).

It maybe worth contacting the FOS and see what they suggest otherwise, good luck.

    Hi
I'm also being given the run around by Egg CC. I started the process off about two years ago!! I cancelled my PPI on my card that I have had with them for almost 10 years to date following a sucessfull claim against Northern Rock. I put a SAR into Egg and they sent me a huge stack of paperwork which I eventually got round to reading thru. I cited the point that I applied online and the PPI box was pre ticked, which in the early 2000's was common practice. I chased them again almost 18mths later to raise that point and ask for a settlement. They told me that I had signed a credit agreement which included the PPI cover. I checked back thru the paperwork and the agreement doesn't mention it at all. The one piece of my history with them that will prove it either way is a screen print of my application which will have the small print next to the pre ticked box. The last time I had any contact with them they asked what paperwork I had been sent. Following the recent ruling I'm gonna start chasing them again but I know they will start playing games again!! Any suggestions for how best to approach it?
  • Hi!

I have just received my ts&cs from my egg card taken out in 2000, same thing, nowhere is it a tick box, there's just my sig and date there and wording in the small print saying any ppi must be paid etc. I'm wondering if it was even optional at all then and just added on by default. Has anyone had any luck from that long ago, where do we go from here?
  • So i guess my question is really, under what status was this missold - never explained it was optional?

I don't think (cannot be sure though) that Egg had pre ticked boxes on their PPI about 18months ago?

How was it taken out? Postal or internet? Back in 2000 if you took out on the internet then there is a good chance that the box was pre ticked (they would know how you took this out remember) but I don't know about applying by post?

I believe (can't honestly remember) that it would have been via the internet. They've then sent a form for me to sign.

This is the one bit of paperwork that Egg didn't send me!! Not convinced they haven't got a copy of it at their end though!! I really need to get beck on to them but finding the time is a problem.

Nearlybroke, did you start a complaint with Egg nearly two years ago and if so did you have their final response?

    Hi
I have had most of my conversations with them thru the messaging system on their website. I haven't really got into them by phone or letter. I'm off work for a week soon so was going to try calling them then
