Because I got tired of typing in all of those barcodes for Food on the Go scheme, I wrote an Android app to allow you to scan in the items you eat: it's pretty basic at the moment: you enter the shop you bought something from, the price in pence, and hit "Scan and Send", which will fire up the barcode scanner, and once that's scanned, send off a text message automagically.

Check it out on the Android Market: FOTG Scan

There's ads in it, but that's only because I want to make my $25 publishing fee back :)

(you've got to be a member of FOTG to get your points, of course :))

Help!!!! I've just got my clicker etc and am trying to transmit my first set of barcodes but each time I try the internet explorer page freezes on me and I have to restart the page. I've checked the active x security settings that they have on their help page, I've tried another pc, I've uninstalled and reinstalled driver etc. Help, I'm at my wits end how to do this.
Anyone any idea what I'm doing wrong. I'm running W7?
    Thanks

No idea why it does not work, but I have found the phone help desk [0800 number] is very good & they talk you through the fixes. My clicker went up the creek, sounded like a strangled cat when bleeping, they tried a few things over the phone, then sent me new one

One thing they did try was clearing the cookies, in my case it made no difference but may sort yours out

    Give them a ring Monday

i've just got my invitation, husband works for tesco will this be a problem? Also i only do a internet shop every 2 weeks and stock on bread milk etc in between will i feel the benefit of doing taking part?

Yes, the number of points is not dependent upon how many items you scan, so a few pints of milk / bread per week counts the same as a a mega Christmas shopping trip

As long as you upload the scans each week you get 1100 points, be it 5 items or 500 items

Sometimes I only have a few items in week but still get the points reward

I think they are compiling shopping patterns for their customers, so loads or little is all grist to their mill

Thanks for reply. I have sussed out that it doesn't work on the main pc or laptop which both run windows 7 home premium but it is working on my daughters netbook which runs windows 7 starter, not sure if thats coincidental or not. I shall give them a ring tomorrow and see if they can suggest anything to get it working on main pc.
    Thanks

Braintree, you get 1 allocation of points for however many shopping trips you complete during that week, i.e. last week I scanned the following shiopping trips: 01.03.11 - Asda; 03.03.11 - Asda; 04.03.11 - Asda and Co-Op. I scan the items on the day of purchase and then transmit the codes on Sunday, this gives me the 1100 points for that week. I also upload and transmit my receipts for the week which give me the additional 500 points for that week's shopping trips.

    Hope that makes sense :)

So let me get this straight (sorry bit of a dumbass)
Today I uploaded my till reciept and transmitted my barcodes (I have been awarded 500 points for the reciept - I suppose I will get the other points for the barcodes on sunday/monday?) BUT I can upload more till reciepts and get extra points through out the week, even though I have already done it? What about barcodes??

you get one set of points per week reguardless of how many times you transmit
ie: 1100 for barcodes and 500 for receipts per week
    HTH's :)

As maiden_scotland says, No you cannot, it is 1100 per week, + 500 for receipts per week, regardless of what you do & when you do it. SO uploading 1 till receipt per day, or 7 per week is still 500 points, not as you may have hoped 7 x 500 = 3500

I find it easier to scan when I get the shopping home, transmit once on a Sunday [I do not do till receipts]

Has anyone / everyone received their weekly points yet? They usually email me on Monday PM / Tuesday AM at the latest but I've got nothing. I'm beginning to think I've forgotten to transmit barcodes and submit receipts!
