Hi, I've just received an email inviting me to join Shop and Scan... is it worth doing? Will I ever see any money from it? How does it work exactly and am I right in thinking it plugs into the phone line? Does it cost any money while it's on the phone line? Thanks.

Oh also it is asking permission to download software onto my computer, is this safe?

    '
We need move some software onto your PC to allow the clicker to communicate with our systems.
As the TNS software is moved to your computer you may be asked to confirm that you will accept software from TNS and Microsoft.
Please select the Accept button to start the download process.'

shop and scan does not connect to the phone line you actually send the data by connecting a small clicker to your pc.
firefox browser will not work it has to be ie and the process takes less than 5 minutes .
Well worth doing and no it does not cost you anything.
    Yes software is safe.

  • I've just recieved my scanner from Nielsen, looking through the rewards booklet it hardly seems worth it. It will take ages to save up for anything decent, anyone else feel the same?

Yes I agree, they are nowhere near as good as Shop & Scan. I would prefer vouchers like TNS do, instead of points where it takes forever to find anything decent. :(

I also agree, I have been with them for years, and they have gradually chipped away at the points / rewards

I now just scan what I think they are worth, if I have some veg from say Morrison's, which needs me to enter weight etc, I do not even bother doing it, not worth my time for the rewards, same with surveys, a "chance to win" sorry, no thanks, once upon a time it was automatic points for answering a survey

I've just received an invitation from Shop & scan about WebView which is "an exciting new research project all about measuring how people in Britain are using the internet".

I will get 2,500 points for signing up, an additional 2,500 after a month and an extra 500 reward points for every month of participation.

As far as I can tell, I will be required to install a software, state who is using the browser and it just runs in the background. The email says that it will not record any login details etc. which is fine but I'm always paranoid.

Anyone else receive this email? I it states that it's a new project but has anyone been part of this beforehand?
