Having said that, I have noticed only Tesco Mobile do this whereas previously I have known even Orange not to block or even alert that you have gone way over yuor usage WITHIN the UK.
How do the standards vary, and why?0 -
This isn't meant to sound nasty but probably will on first reading, this is not my intention. I'm sorry if this also seems harsh, but from the networks point of view it could just as easily be someone who's run up a huge bill and now wants to avoid paying it by claiming the phone as stolen.
At least in our case, if the SIM was taken with our camera + acc. then we have proof to show we were elsewhere from that date still don't think it makes a difference to the provider.0 -
i am sure that they must be cheating you, service provides can block any sim card immediately when they receive the request and conforming that you are the real owner of the sim..:beer:click the thanks button if you find my post useful :beer:0

This is not the 1st post I have seen on here where the person has used a local SIM while abroad only to discover they have lost their UK one when they get back. Given unlocked access to a SIM can leave you liable to £100s/£1000s of calls and data you need to protect it like you would cash i.e. keep it safe with your passport.

I guess the question I am asking is this - Have the mobile companies no obligations to protect customers in case of ridiculously high and obvious unusual high usage of accounts?
I got a call from my credit card company the first time I used my card online to check I had authorized it as I had never done so. You'd expect people to use their cards online wouldn't you? But calling to confirm the ID is protecting them, and the company itself too.
If a consumers normal mobile bills has never run over 200GBP a month, or mobile internet usage - particularly on roaming has never been non-stop... why can mobile companies not make a security check call to confirm the identity of the user? This would lead to more customer confidence and more business?
Its the principle. I am not denying that precautions should be taken by everyone. Everyone protects - to their best effort their credit card and other details but we still have crimes. Mobile companies HAVE high usage monitoring in place they don't need people tracking accounts.0 -
Contact the provider of your travel insurance.

Well they do if the card has been cloned but was still in your possession or at the point that you reported it - however, there is still an element of responsibility on the consumer to be aware of where their sim card is. As it is, you are reduced to relying on vodafone's charity or trying to claim on your holiday insurance.0 -
Great work Vodafone if you're reading this.
We've been chasing you since January on this problem. You [Vodafone] reach a deadlock at your ease and pleasure on the 5th of May and today, 8th of May, we start receiving letter from Debt Recovery already!
Great work! Thanks! You just made life that much better!0 -

did you have mobile or travel insurance? if so claim, if not arrange a payment plan its not their fault the sim was stolen.Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
