  • I certainly wouldn't vote for any of that bunch of thieving gits, I am furious that this government is doing so much harm and nothing good. Why is there a protest in London today by disabled people who are having to take the government and their councils to court to get the benefits they need to live? Because this bunch of evil gits have taken them off the people who need them the most - disgusting in my opinion.
If cammie knickers actually started to tax the shops who avoid paying tax, such as the empire owned by one of his good friends - philip green, who has also recently been made a lord by cammie knickers, say no more as to where this government is going! They promised to stop this loophole before being elected in and what have they done - nothing whatsoever. They are making the rich richer and the poor poorer. green owns BHS, Topshop & Evans amongst many others in his empire. We've also got Boots who pay no tax & Vodaphone.
Now if they were made to pay tax as they should be, would we need any cuts at all? I'm quite sure we wouldn't. That's why I wouldn't vote conservative, they are con artists and nothing more. Get them out asap.

The last thing the UK needs now is a political chancellor, and that is exactly what is wrong with everyone on that list.

I vote for Mervyn King. He has talked a lot of sense, and probably done more at the Bank of England to stabilise the economy than anyone at the Treasury has done.

I can't believe people are seriously voting for Gordon Brown the person who got us in this mess in the first place, Vince Cable?, and Kenneth Clarke the sleeping donkey who's going to let more criminals out on the streets. Unbelieveable. I think Martin Lewis could be a serious contender. At least he would be on the side of the consumer unlike most of the other politicans. How about it Martin. Ever thought about setting up your own political party? You've already got about 5 million supporters. We do need a new political party which looks after the people rather than big business who constantly rip the British public off. The British people have to borrow so much and get into so much debt just to keep paying the constantly rising prices and rising profits of the big companies. It's time we had a political party who looked after the people and stopped everybody from constantly being ripped off. Prices could and should be regulated by the govt.

I deliberately avoided a 'none of the above' option as I knew it'd win hands down. This is about political figures - afterall only they can be chancellor (barring a revolution)

Yes, let's have a peaceful, democratic, revolution and get rid of all these so called politicians who just keep fleecing the country. What we need is a party run for the people, by the people and whose job it is to look after the people.

Their's a wealth of difference between what I personally would like, my political ideology and what I think would run the country into the ground.

I voted Ken Clarke mainly on ideology, but don't forget that Gordon didn't do that bad a job of balancing the books given the restrictions. Making the treasury work shouldn't be confused with policy making at number 10.

I honestly can't believe what I've just read: 'Gordon Brown didn't do that bad a job of balancing the books'. OMG. No, only got us into nearly one trillion pounds worth of debt. Is that what you seriously call balancing the books? And Ken let's let more criminals out Clarke? Oh dear me.
  • Either Julius Caesar who was practical and said kill all the lawyers firstn; or Genghis Khan who would at least focus on real issues and ignore petty party politics
  • Am certainly not a Lib Dem voter but Cable for me all day long on that list. He's one of the very few properly qualified to be the chancellor as he has proven himself in the private sector and is generally a really great economist.

It really does annoy me that someone like Osbourne can essential become the most powerful and important accountant and economist in the country when his only experience is as a political researcher. The same applied with the awful Alistair Darling who got promoted from Transport Minister to Chancellor which to me means that he either had a very particular set of skills for both jobs or was very unqualified for one of them.

The PM only needs to be an exceptional speaker and be able to schmooze and influence people as this is what is needed for the country on an international basis for the benefit of the country. Every other ministerial position should be awarded to the person that is most qualified in that field - the education minister should be an ex-headteacher; health minister should be a doctor; chancellor should be an accountant/economist/financier etc etc. That's how it works in companies in the private sector and surely the government is essentially the largest and most important company in the country.
    :T
Well said, only people who have worked at THE job should be given the ministery. It's strange that most of the world is in the same financial position as us, and yet Mr. G.Brown didn't get them into it. Also the World Banks gave HIM a standing ovation for telling them that we all need to pull together.

My favourite thing about Gordon was that his selling of all of the UK's gold and buying of the US dollar had such impeccable timing. You would be hard pushed to find a banker, fund manager or investor out there to be able to pick such a change in the markets...
