CSA says I am the father – but that's impossible!

  • Thanks Emma, point taken.

When will the CSA provide an opportunity to attend a paternity test? Do I go and see my own doctor, or is this arranged by a DSS doctor?

you earn £180K a year but can't spell conception? Hmmm....

So the last time you had sex with this woman was 15 months prior to the birth date or 6 months prior to the birth date?

The CSA are heavy handed, that much I agree with.

I'll ask again, what evidence is this woman supposed to produce to 'prove' you're the father? If you're not the father, have a DNA test. The fact you are ducking and diving in such an indignant manner, makes the rest of us nod our heads quietly and smile to ourselves. Many of us have been there, done that and are wearing the t-shirt of a 'successful' DNA test (or refusal to test in my case).

You don't stop something by sticking your head in the sand, you face it head on and deal with it.

it's a different system in northern ireland so i'm not sure. Phone the CSA and ask them their procedures. you will have probably got a booklet out with the letters they've sent and it should be in there

    ...A DNA test?

I have never said I wouldnt attend but I find it odd its down to me to organise it. I would expect the CSA to do that rather than pass the buck.

    LOL. Loved that bit.

Do the test. Gets it over and done with. You can then laugh in her face.

Given my one experience of having the CSA on the phone, I think it best let them make the next move. Im happy to speak to them so long as they are not impertinent.

The CSA don't expect you to arrange your own paternity test. If you deny paternity - and you have to do it within their given timescales or they'll assume paternity and your window of opportunity will close - they will send you a letter and booklet all about what happens next. You can also download the same booklet in pdf format from their website.

Only you're ignoring the CSA so you haven't denied anything and/or responded in anyway at this point?

Oh and you know, the number of 'I've read it on the internet and interpreted it correctly self-solicitors' out there never ceases to amaze me. Solicitors and barristers train for YEARS. And even then, many of then aren't any good at their jobs....reading up on how to avoid paying maintenance and get round the CSA on the internet (you've not been on 'deadbeat dads' have you?) isn't going to set you up for getting your money back in the future, is it?

Many on here will tell you - ignore the CSA at your peril....

Yes the CSA will pursue you if they have been told you are the father. Yes you can deny it and advise them that you want a DNA test which they can refund, they can refund costs incurred and pay compensation for your distress depending on how far they pursue it.

Civil engineer on £180k and you are considering option 2? 15% of your take home pay must be about £1300 a month. You're either having a laff or you are nice but dim which would explain why the girl thought it would be a good idea to put you down as the father.
