That's still the largest size hjt log I've seen posted here.
I would use ccleaner/tools/startup and disable all except a/v and wireless. See how it goes and then maybe enable your 'needed' progs ,such as backup, one at a time. Any you don't recognise-google , any you don't need -delete.

Uninstall anything WINDOWS LIVE ADD ON / TOOLBAR related

    ......................................................

    Download HostsXpert (US MIRROR)
    http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/Hoster-Download-27041.html
and then follow the below steps.

    * Unzip HostsXpert.zip
    * It will create a folder named HostsXpert in whatever folder you extract it to.
    * Run HostsXpert.exe by double clicking on it.
    * click the Make Writeable? button.
    * click Restore Microsoft's Hosts File and then click OK.
    * Click the X to exit the program

    ..............................................................

Describe to me how your backup program works please? I dont understand why anything needs running or does it (supposed to) backup automatically in time?
I really dont understand why theres a 'firewall' part to it??

That's still the largest size hjt log I've seen posted here.
I would use ccleaner/tools/startup and disable all except a/v and wireless. See how it goes and then maybe enable your 'needed' progs ,such as backup, one at a time. Any you don't recognise-google , any you don't need -delete.

Thanks - I've made a start and disabled lots - I have 4 kids, too, so need to take a bit more time over this, I think, and disable when I have time to re-enable as I find I need to.

Thanks so much for your help.

Thanks, again. I've done the HostsXpert bit - do I restart now (I'll assume so and do that next).

The clickfree backup is a wireless back up that automatically (currently set to everyday, but I could change to less frequently if that's more appropriate) the stuff on our wireless network, i.e. mine and OH's laptops. I bought it when I lost stuff when I was virus-hit. Don't know why it has a firewall bit to it, I'll open the main program to see if there're any options.

CleanMem Mini Monitor (per Closed's speed up PC thread) now showing a much healthier 31% memory usage.

Download and run the NORTON REMOVAL TOOL

If your wirelessly backing up everyday its no wonder its running slow (At least with the net). Theres probably no bandwidth left due to all the uploading
Im still not convinced its all set correctly, as some of the files running due to it arent even on google, yet the main one is. Which suggests somethings amiss somewhere

Thanks - It's faster, but now the click free back up isn't working at all.

The only thing sql server is used for is my energy monitor, which downloads to this laptop through an eon package. Should/Could I disable it? I've obviously disabled something too far for the wireless back up...

About to try the Norton thing. Just found an AVG9 and AVG10 folder in the all users/application data folder. Can I just delete them? I ran the AVG Uninstall download tool when I had the virus a couple of months ago, and installed avanti per the recommendations on here.

It's been the laptop that was slow, not the internet/bandwidth. The wirless was backing up each night at 7 o'clock, but only the new stuff so only taking a couple of minutes.

    AVG is fine to remove
What have you done so that click free back up doesnt work at all?

Not sure, but have plugged it back in via the USB and seem to have fixed it - about to dicsonnect and plug it back into its own powersupply. Might've been my trugger happy disabling of start up stuff...

Will re-start so I can safely remove the USB connection.
