Whenever I've had to buy them I've hidden them in the basket with loads of other stuff, it's so silly how embarassing it is!
Lemonmelon, I sympathise with you completely on the 'trying to have a clear out but finding something to distract you', I've been that way my entire life. When I was younger (and very very untidy!) my Mum would make me tidy my room 'properly', leave me to it and find me 2 hours later surrounded by piles and piles of junk, playing with an old toy I'd found underneath my bed! I still do it now! That is why I'm so impressed when I do manage to actually start a tidying/sorting/clearing out job and actually finish it!

That sounds familiar!I was up late worrying last night about the state of the house!

I've been having panics about where we're going to keep the pushchair, of all things! We've got a cupboard in our poky little hallway but it is full (of junk...) so we're going to have to clear it out and make space... but see above post about finding old toys and getting distracted whilst attempting to have a good sort out! I'm not looking forward to that and totally understand worrying about the state of the house because I do it all the time!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. I know that this isn't the weddings board, but as the subject of weddings has come up again, a short 'report' on our day and honeymoon.....
The wedding day started badly - CD1 and boy was she a b1tch
Hair at 9am then over to boots to have make up done. Back home for a bacon sandwich. Not easiest with full make up on
Photographer turned up at 12.15 and wondered if she had the right house as everyone was so calm and quiet. Bridesmaids put their dresses on and cue panic number one - the 'eye' of the hook and eye at the top of the zip was missing on all three dresses. So the only non-female in the house came up with the ingenious solution of cutting up an old bra and using the clasps at the back :T
Arrived at the church 7 minutes early (even with the limo driver taking us to the wrong address and me having to shout directions at him) but after photos outside I walked down the aisle at 2.37pm. The only three people I saw were my mum, my gran and DH. Only reason I remember my gran is because she was sobbing and it made me cryMy dad did me proud on the day - he had an 'accident' in 2006 which means he is in a wheelchair the majority of the time. He walked my down the aisle and did a reading for us.
At the reception we had photos & welcome drinks for about an hour and a half. Apparently it was a bit cold but I didn't feel it. First course - tomato soup - went down well. Between starter and desert we went round the tables instead of having a receiving line. Main course - sausage mash & onion gravy - oops. I sat down after chatting with our guests and my veil landed in the gravy. So I did the lady-like thing and put the veil in my mouth to suck the gravy off :rotfl: Dad's speech made me cry and my nephew did very well with tissue duty. First dance (which was salsa and kept as a surprise) went down really well even though DH trod on my dress at least three times and changed from our choreographed routine without telling / warning me. We put money behind the bar and it lasted until 10.45pm!
The honeymoon.... first night we stayed at the local Marriott. DH took one look at my dress and said the six words NO BRIDE EVER WANTS TO HEAR ON HER WEDDING NIGHT - I don't know what to do! :rotfl:
Sunday through Thursday we were in the Isle of Wight watching the photos being uploaded onto Facebook and generally chilling, writing thank you cards etc. Then we were home for a few days as it was my mum & dad's 30th wedding anniversary. Then the Sunday after the wedding we flew out to Sicily for a fortnight's all inclusive honeymoon. OH MY GOD. It was amazing! The weather was perfect - we even got snow on Etna!
Mintedby30? you asked about my evening dress - yes it was a Monsoon dress. The name on it was Isabelle, but I think they change the name and design slightly quite often as you can still get almost the same dress in Monsoon now. The rose picture was obviously posed for
No we're not pregnant yet, although apparently people were taking bets at our wedding as to how long it would take. :rotfl:Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)0 -
Aww COMP it sounds great
I am always curious to hear how it all went. I am trying to tell myself everything is going to fall into place.
I suppose the most important bit with 3 weeks to go is meeting up with the registrar - we have already posted notice or whatever but were told we would meet up again before it so better get that arranged!Debt Free Wannabe by 1 January 2016

:rotfl: @ the veil in the gravy and the groom's words on the wedding night! Sounds like you had a brilliant day and a fabulous honeymoon!
The thing that I'm most annoyed about with regards to my own wedding is that I spent ages making a lovely banner saying 'Thank You!' and I was going to get a shot on the beach with each of us holding an end so we could get the photo printed and put onto our thank you cards... I completely forgot about it and found the darn thing when I was packing my suitcase to come home! So if you do have any of these bright ideas, make sure someone knows to remind you so you don't forget! :rotfl:Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. Hello
Just been having a lurk and was reading about your day COMP. Sounds like you had a wonderful day despite the early hiccup!Glad it all went well for you!
Everyone took bets at our wedding too! Which is annoying because everytime I saw one of my friends she kept asking "are you pregnant yet?" I've told her to stop and she has which is good. You put enough pressure on yourself without others adding to it.
I'll tootle on back to the TTC thread now - hope to see some of you lovely ladies over there soon!
