    Don't think Orange would be much help, but may be worth a try. You could complain directly to phonepayplus and raise the issue that a minor was able to cause an excessive bill on another minor's phone. Presumably you've been able to stop the messages now. I think any such premium messages should contain the text "This has cost you 50p" or similar.
    Wouldn't hold out much hope though. The message senders probably followed the necessary guidelines and have made/are making loads of money out of those who fall for it.

    beckydee,
    the actions of Orange, Netsize and their content provider(who conveniently take all the blame/but only a share of the money) are no better that 'peodofile' type crooks who target children.

    your wasting your time talking to the Orange 'customer care' staff that all too often turn out to be little jumped up car park attendant types.

    for your information 60555 is an Orange 'managed' short code
    http://www.short-codes.com/pages/codes_browse.php?SMS=1&Voice=1&MMS=1&Video=1&code=60555&imageField.x=13&imageField.y=5

    that means a share of the money that is being swindled and stolen from the children is being directly pocketed by Orange.

    time to change companies?

    Whereas I agree that those networks who collaborate with Premium number services deserve all your wrath, it is unfair to describe employees who are governed and constrained by their company policies and regulations in the manner that you did.

    There is also a wide gap between Premium number services who are, in my opinion, indiscriminate money grabbers with dubious practices, and those people who prey sexually on children.

    Fair and accurate criticism of shady practices is absolutely right - pity to spoil it by hitting at the front end junior staff and going OTT on the other point.

    @Wantmemoney,

    Don't forget there is also Orange's new partner, T-Mobile, who also make it simple to block the short codes which deliver these 'Services', AKA scam texts!

    @Guys Dad,

    Check out the Adjudications section on the PP+ web site and you will see the same companies being fined every other month for various scams. The same companies that are contracted by ALL the networks to supply content for their customers.

    Sadly it is all about profit, morals are a thing of the past. You would think that if a content provider was fined for a breach of PP+ (The PR Regulator) rules and regulations, 'scams', then the networks would think twice about using them again or cancelling the contract.

    If only it was like that in real life, profit is the God.

    this has also happened to us a few years ago, but it was a top up phone, texts coming in right left and center they managed to take over £20 of credit, this was with vodafone, so we went to the vodafone shop itself and they put a block on incoming texts for 1 week, could make call and receive them, when i went back there was another 27 waiting to go on to the phone, and never received anymore texts from them voda said they get fed up when the realise there not getting any more money out of you and move on to the next victim. maybe worth trying to do the same.

    You missed my point. What I was saying was that I agree that they are scammers of the worst order, but that doesn't make them !!!!!philes.

    @Intasun32

    to be fair to GuyS Dad if you read his post he didn't really disagree with my general opinions of individuals and companies that specifically market to children.
    I think we would all agree this area should be more strictly policed.

    @Guys Dad the term I coined was in '' and referred mostly (in this case) to Netsize.

    they have a reputation throughout Europe that is second to none-in fact they are now the service provider that supplies the 88888 to Jamster.

    the reason I use that term

    to obtain sexual advantage of a child
    to obtain Pecuniary Advantage of a child

    if you can think of a different term that describes their activities

    @Guys Dad,

    I know we are all in agreement with this as I have read your previous posts.

    It's that many of these scams are aimed at 'youngsters' with PAYG phones (I think this is the point that Wantmemoney is making), a fact that is known only too well to the PR Industry. Also the web sites that would attract youngsters, games, music etc.

    The whole thing is wrong, surely we cannot be the only ones that see it?
