Do you have proof that you have paid his debts off by selling houses etc over the years?

If not, then try and get some together - this could be useful if he tried to get money out of you from the house sale etc.....it's worth a shot if you're backed in a corner about it.

Don't go fretting terribly just yet, you need the advice of a solicitor or even a lawyer first and take it from there.

Thanks LillythePink and Jetta_Wales. I have an appointment with CAB next week. I think my husband has forgotten that he willingly signed the property over to me in the presence of a solicitor 4 years ago.

I do have records so will be digging them all out. I know that there are two sides to every story. I did split with my first husband but we have been best of friends ever since and quite honestly I would rather give him half of what I now have than give it to my second husband. I really do feel like one of those very sad stories where everyone else is shouting at you to watch your back and you are totally unable to see what is glaringly obvious to them. In short, I've been taken for a very long ride by a very accomplished con man.
