Citibank US$ Account Transfer
Comments
-
Hi
The money hit my citibank acct today which was exactly 3 working days. The exchange rate was good however. I got 1.642 which was close to the headline rate of 1.64 when I got up this morning.
I suspect the barclays one will hit later. Its a pity they dont take faster payments but I can work with this. I'll transfer the rest of my money on Thu 12th as I go on holiday on the 19th to make sure I get it in the acct on time.
Did I read somewhere that I cant use my CB card for buying gas in the US.
Thanks
Darren
Didn't see this thread sooner or I would have answered. Had the same findings as you.
Usually I go to a 7/11 or a Citibank (if there is a branch where I am in the US) and take out a few $$$ in cash to use while I'm away and just use the Citibank card in shops. Personally I would only use a credit card or pay cash at a gas station, especially pay at pump - gas pumps are a big risk for your card being cloned!
If you have USD cash, it can be paid in to your account at a Citibank branch in the UK (all in London). I did this when I changed money with CCE in the past. Now I just keep a track of the rate for a few weeks and then try and do a bank transfer gambling on what the rate will be in 3 days time when the credit hits.
The suggestion in this thread to have the Citibank GBP a/c so you can make instant transfers is a very good one.0
