Anyone know Motability cars with Sat Nav?

I have a TomTom GO LIVE (internet connected) and also VW's latest touchscreen satnav.
The TomTom is much better for many reasons:
firstly it tells you the cheapest petrol in the area/en route, which typically saves 2-3p/litre, which works out about £30/year on average mileage
secondly, the internet-connected traffic is far better than the FM TMC you'll get (if you're lucky) on built-in
thirdly, they have proper data on the time it takes to travel certain routes, so they will for instance tell you that there will be a 5 minute delay on a certain road at 5:30pm, and will give different routes then from say 2am
fourthly, its internet connection means it's fantastic for finding POIs (you could do this on a smartphone and manually transfer it across, but in some areas postcodes etc. are not very specific) - local restaurants, shops, etc., most of which will be missing from a standard satnav
fifthly, it has better lane guidance than the VW satnav (VW satnav also does this)
sixthly it speaks all road names (you can turn this off in preference) whereas the VW satnav only does some roads, also the Tomtom says 'take the motorway for 69 miles', whereas VW says 'take the motorway for a long way' (anything over 9.9 miles for the VW is 'a long way')
seventh, you can take it out of the car and use it on foot - handy in big cities, and it also does bicycle navigation
eight, map updates are much cheaper, whereas the car manufacturer will charge a fortune
ninth, it's much cheaper - a GO 550 is £150, whereas built-in can run you £2k (and of course £2k satnav on a used car is worth very little as it's going to be previous gen and horribly clunky in comparison to new models)
tenth, only the most recent car satnav software does 7-digit postcodes, whereas this has been standard on standalone units for years - some cars still don't do this.
eleventh, the Tomtom has more info - current speed on screen (speedo overreads, so this is handy in speed traps), distance to next turn
built-in satnav is hopelessly uncompetitive next to standalone units.0 -
Hi All,
I'm looking for a motability car at the moment. I have order a Ford Focus Sport which has a built in Sat Nav for £100 deposit on Diesel. The problem is I've been waiting around 4 weeks now, and it could be another 6 weeks before I get the car if not longer.
I was just wondering if anyone knew of any other cars that come with a Sat Nav as standard or maybe the zetec or sport model has a Sat Nav. I know there are a few but some are out of my price range, I'm willing to pay upto £300 deposit.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Joe
Can't you just wait a bit?The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

The Renault built-in Carminat TomTom solves all these problems. There is a LIVE option and maps etc. are stored on an SD card. Updates etc. via TomTom Home just like the standalones. Available over most of the range now, Clio, Megane, Scenic, Laguna, Modus, vans etc.0 -

£470 which is much less than most manufacturers charge - although £110 extra for Europe-wide mapping is not exactly cheap considering it's £30 extra on the portable units.
Otherwise you're probably better off with a third-party unit, Sony, Kenwood or Pioneer - Sony have Tomtom and Kenwood Garmin now.0 -
Hi,
we have the Nissan Qashqai, the n-tec model comes with a sat nav and reversing camera, it is wonderful, mine is due for renewal in Dec and we cannot find anything better yet.
Most will put a sat nav in at a cost, mostly £875.00++ and you have to wait.
Been comparing for some time now as you can probably tell!!
Good luck.0 -
