Hello & welcome. Such a funny start :) ... and a soon to be fellow Rayburn user, I love mine, there's something very comforting about it.

    Good luck.

OOH - be prepared to have your brains picked! I cant wait its SFW one (woodburning, solid fuel model), its all black and shiney and will be connected to the solar - so the rayburn does the hot water in winter and the solar does the hot water in summer.

Indulgent bought me a rayburn cookbook and it sounds weird - so i am abit worried that veg may be ready for lunch and meat ready the following breakfast......

Glad you have found MSE to refocus your efforts. The amount of information on here to help clear debt quicker is amazing.

I take it during your debt busting you have checked that all of your utilities are with the cheapest providers for your usage, ditto insurances as well.

Also have you discovered cash back sites like quidco and topcashback? Great for online spends you would do anyway.

good luck with the journey, and love the chicken story LOL

Hi chev - nope i have never used a cashback site but checking out costco and how it works is on my 'to do list of commandments'.... Insyurances, utilities etc are all sorted though :o

Phew…. What a weekend – it was lurve and a happy birthday at the happyfarm this weekend, and I am glad to be at work for a nice rest.

    Weekend at the happy farm

Indulgent was 44 at the weekend! And as the building work is costing a small fortune we decided to have a low key family celebration, just an informal lunch for immediate family . Indulgent suggested some Italian food would be good, I decided a good old fashioned spag bol (cheap and tasty) with an Italian side salad and ciabatta would fit the bill – with rhubarb crumble (ok I know this isn’t exactly following the Italian theme but uncle alberts alloment posse supplied it free of charge) and if you think of it as Lazio rhubarbio served with a little mascarpone – I can just about pull it off as been italian).

Uncle Albert supplied some pinot and chianti and invited one of the lads (84 year old rhubarb supplier ) and Doris (new allotment holder on the block). Eco Warrior and would be lawyer asked if Jack (apparently just a friend) who is a super hottie (their words not mine) could come too and a quick call to petrol head confirmed his attendance.

Anyway – all was prepared and Jack who shall now be known as (hormones on legs) arrived …. Mmmm me thinks he can’t make his mind up between eco warrior and would be lawyer and is just enjoying the twins flirty attention (would be lawyer looking all american cheerleadery and eco warrior all flowing locks and bare legs and MY BLOODY SHIRT – which apparently is vintage and funky), Oh I can see this will just end in tears…….Indulgent also picks up on this and starts stroppily polishing his shotgun with a menacing look in his eye….

An hour later and petrol head arrives with latest pneumatic blonde in tow , gives me a big hug and declares to pneumatic blonde “this is my second mum and the best cook in the world”….mmm me thinks what’s he after.

Anyway indulgent, uncle albert and hormones on legs all go to peer inside petrolheads engine (why – god only knows, but they did)……. Meanwhile back in the kitchen pneumatic blonde works out the way to petrol heads heart is either to have 4 wheels and lots of horses (petrol heads favourite expression for car which leaves you looking if you have been down a wind tunnel or overdone the botox)…. Or by having some culinary skills and feeding his ever empty stomach. So she offers to help me make lunch. She who must be obeyed leaves pneumatic blonde in charge of the spaghetti and goes to sort out (ok sneak a glass) of the vino and comes back to find pneumatic blonde happily cutting the spaghetti into pieces…..BECAUSE THE PAN IS NOT LONG ENOUGH!!!!!! :eek:Eeek ……. Boys are now back in so decide it’s safe to send pneumatic blonde over to them for a chat (secretly praying she doesn’t bend down or anything in the belt like skirt in case uncle albert or rhubarb supplier have a coronary).

Anyway meal passes off well, everyone happy…. Hormones on legs probably scared off for life as he spends the last half an hour listening to Uncle Albert, Doris and rhubarb supplier discussing the war, Sophia Loren and when to sow sweet peas.

Pneumatic blonde (who obviously has talents which are not culinary related ) races off into the sunset with petrol head. Would be lawyer and eco warrior slope off to watch trashy TV and discuss who hormones on legs paid the most attention to.

Me and indulgent settle down for hug and a nice cup of tea.:kisses2::kisses2:

    Debt Free journey.

The Ocado shopping arrived and sure enough I got 25% off, I was impressed with the service and the quality – but think it would be expensive to use without the offers.

Made packed lunch for work today – along with packed lunches for the rest of the clan.

I am aiming for a NSD today and had one yesterday too….. which reminds me, I must sign up to the No spend day thingy.

Did a spot of batch cooking this weekend and also made breakfast bars (which work out so much cheaper than the shop bought variety). Also prepared menus for the coming week and only need to buy some more spuds.

Paid off another £100 (over the minimum payment off of Credit card 1 this morning).

Been re-inspired to enter competitions and entered 5 this morning ……because I have actually won one (not exactly what I was expecting but still a major freebie) . I am having a meeting today to check out my prize and will tell you all about it tomorrow….

    Take care everyone xxxxx

i was wondering if there are any ebay experts on here.... a colleague has just told me i can sell my old kitchen, oven and hob and franke sink on ebay! Now Indulgent has an account, but to date he has only bought things (with the exception of a car sale, which seems to be different to auctions)..... i have got loads and loads to sell - does it take up alot of time, not sure whether to stick to doing the odd car boot????

I am a complete novice when it comes to ebay / costco and things like that (but recognise i need to get with it)...

Can i really sell a kitchen???? i assume people would come and take it out and collect it?

Well its a beautiful day here today - the sun is finally shining again after the mother of all storms last night.

    Life at the happy farm

Well to be honest - everything was a little dull and boring last night, I think we all had Monday blues - so not to much to report. Other than would be lawyer has a date with hormones on legs, so i think he finally made his mind up! on the plus side the bricks turned up and a team of brickies arrived this morning (yesterday was the sewer day apparantly) Uncle Albert and Eco warrior most indignant at having to use portaloo all day - descriptions included its like going in the street and the flush is like a gear stick etc.

Oh and I have Won a prize - yesterday i got a call (when i was in a meeting, so I couldnt take it) - was greated by my wonderful (but today strangely smug faced PA ) telling me I had won a prize.... So here's me thinking of the things i have entered recently  could it be a kitchen? are me and indulgent going to be whisked off to a romantic holiday destination or maybe its the new car.....well actually its a three month membership to my local GYM :rotfl:. I went to see the nice man yesterday who has booked me in on thursday for an 'induction in the torture chamber' - Oh god am I scared - any current muscles are well hidden under layer of cuddles (ok layers of flab) - and WHAT DO I WEAR!!!!! Tried on leggings with sporty top last night and looked okish (oh but the legs looked yuk! kind of like lumpy licoriche sticks about to burst free) and sports bras!!! obviously invented by a male contorionist cos i managed to get tied into a knot. . Will let youknow how I get on.... on the other hand if you never hear from me again - gym man has finished me off ;)

    Money Saving journey

Extra organised today brought lunch and dinner (evening meeting in Birmingham, so gonna be a late one).

Still pondering on the kitchen on ebay idea?????

checked out all 'points cards' today - got £8.84 on nectar and a whopping £27.20 on Boots card :j - not sure about tesc@ (wait for them to come in the post).

Have a good day folks xx

    Morning, Mrs.

There is an ebay board here, and you might find this one interesting too.
    "Green pastures are before me,
Which yet I have not seen;"
I'd love to be a good example - instead, I am a horrible warning.

Is she really committed to being an eco warrior? :rotfl:There are no flush loos up trees and she might actually have to go in the street if she is on a protest? Tell her that in the interests of saving the planet you are going to get a composting toilet instead of a flushing mains one. (Apologies, my fascination with all things non-flushing coming into play again here.)

Morning Wordsmith and many thanks for the links (will check out later)...

Eco warrior - likes the IDEA (thinks of riding elephants and saving whales etc) ... the reality she's gonna need a rucksack the size of an elephant to contain quilted loo roll, hair straightners, blackberry plus charger etc etc.) ... still her hearts in the right place lol.

Now do tell - what is the fascination with things none flushing???? breakfast has settled and its a while until lunch - so I can take all the details no matter how grizzley? :D

On the ebay thing - you can sell anything on e bay. I try not to read all the stuff about ebay on here, because some of the problems people have would put you off for life. I only started selling towards the end of last year, and I have only had one small issue with a buyer but have nearly 200 sales under my belt, so generally speaking it is a good way to get rid of the clutter. For the kitchen you would need some decent pics, and a good description, and if you want someone to buy and dismantle it then state that clearly in your listing. You could also consider Gumtree or your local paper, but I am sure you would get a buyer no problem. It takes some time to get going (well it did in my case), but once you get used to it it's quite addictive, and the money you make selling 2nd hand things is tax free which is all good.
