E.on - What's happened?

I also received an email from E.ON. I moved to them from British Gas several years ago. Looks like I'll be moving back to British Gas, as none of the current tariffs on the E.ON website are competitive.0

Same here!
Need to ensure we get a final bill up to 01 July so we get the full 26.6% discount.0 -
Regs don't allow a power co to proactively offer the cheapest deal to a customer, if an enq is made by the customer, online or overthe phone then the info will be given, but not without prompt from the cust. Be careful frankietwospots and ensure that energyhelpline do not process the application early, the risk yopu run with them being the broker, is if they process the sale say 1st week of june, which would ensure supply change date would be after 1st July, will Websaver 11 still be available, they will not be able to put you on it if BG withdraw tariff in next couple of weeks, which is highly likely given end date of tariff is 3

Interesting Email.
Glad I am not the only one to be mystified.
I too have been shopping around, which is no surprise to EON I am sure or the other members of the big six. Ever felt like a kipper?
These are my observations Current Cost c.£1100 was a big saving from a standard Atlantic Tariff of about £500 12 months ago. Since this fix all suppliers have increased tariffs so would expect say up to £1200. Online 7 would be C.£1360.
BG Websave11 forecast at £1299. This isn't a fixed rate but a discount of 6% from the basic tariff for 12 months together with some pointless tariff tweaks for dual fuel. Downside is a £60 cancellation fee and it is BG.
It is good of EON PR to suggest that alternative tariffs may be available but other than the fact it is summer and wholesale price may dip a little surely the future price is ever upward.
The jury is currently out on whether to switch because like other items they all seem to float to the same place in the end and maybe £60 isn't worth it, then again they play a game with us so who knows.
What really gets my goat is the cost and time these companies must waste fiddling around, losing customers/gaining customers (which we pay for) why can't someone offer a "fair", easily understood, easily comparable tariff that we as the customer can stick with. It is a basic commodity not a sexy gizzmo.
Oh and has anyone had some interesting home insurance renewals recently - up 70% no change in risk profile:rotfl:...."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

"pointless tariff tweaks" (Dual Fuel and DDR) I mentioned in previous post actually add up to £80 of discounts so maybe not so pointless:j"If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

I'm in the same boat, had the email and got some really poor tariffs to choose from. I've been with eon since i moved in 2 years ago (took over from last owner)
I've never had to change before how do you do it and any ideas on the best company to go with?0 -
from a quick look on energyhelpline.com
BG: WebSaver 11 Dual Fuel
npower: Go Fix 5
seem the best and can set it up to change as soon as the eon tariff ends, any others?0 -
I'm leaving EON for EDF's Fixed S@ver tariff.
Someone from EON phoned me to ask why I was leaving. Told him EDF were cheaper and he just said he quite understood and hoped I would consider coming back one day. Does look like anyone who can research the alternatives and is prepared to switch will leave. Feel a bit sorry for those folk (usually more senior in age) who have been with them from pre-PowerGen days and don't realise they can get it cheaper elsewhere with hardly any hassle.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. I feel that E.On may be relying on apathy to increase their profits even with a decreased customer base - i.e. some will leave for cheaper deals elsewhere, most won't bother and will end up paying ~20% more without realising.0 -
