Business web hosting and broadband?

Apologies if this information is elsewhere, but can anyone tell me of good broadband rates for a small business, and a good web hoster for a business using Frontpage 2000?

Or direct me to relevant posts?

Also, thoughts on web design packages, bearing in mind I'd prefer to use Frontpage because I know how to, and don't want to pay a lot for a different tool?

thanks

    Free Online for broadband.

    https://www.free-online.net

They may not be the cheapest but they're not expensive and they have real people at the end of the phone to answer questions! Please PM me if you decide to go with them as I think I can 'refer' you and get some money off our work connection ...

Sorry, don't know enough about web hosting, but try the following:

    http://www.cyberporte.co.uk/

Don't know if they support front page, but I do know that the system they offer for building web pages is VERY easy to use (even I managed it ...)

No idea on the broadband I'm afraid - live in the sticks and dont get it!

BUT try 1&1 internet, they do very reasonably priced web hosting and have their own software that you use online to set it up - I got mine done there and (touch wood!) no problems.

It may be worth asking them if they support Frontpage - their email support is usually very quick to reply. :)

I just pop in now and then.... :)

    Thank you ladies!

Too tired to check it out now but i will do so in due course...and yes I will contact you as a referer if I go that way Sue..
  • Hi,

Unable to advise about the broadband ...

But for web hosting I use https://www.hosting-unlimited.net.

Not the cheapest, but great support, very good site statistics and other software included.

They have a forum you can have a look at to help decide.

    Best of every success,

aligirl, may I respectfully suggest that neither you nor your business will last long if you don't get some sleep? ;D ;D ;D

Just based on when you're posting, mind you, so maybe your clock's wrong ...

Ha, ha yes that was a late night! On the other hand working so hard, so late may mean I am determined!

Thanks for all the inf. I haven't looked at the hosting yet, though I think I'm expecting to go with metronet for the broadband (sorry Sue!)

I'm sure you are. I just remember one l o n g night when I'd just got the accounts up to date, and just as I hit the print button I remembered that an empty balloon had been 'farted' in that direction earlier in the day (you know when you blow a balloon up and let the air out and it raspberries its way across the room to the great amusement of all under 10s?). Too late, the balloon was now firmly wound around the print rollers ... and I was up for another hour trying to extricate it. :(

Not to worry: you go with what's best for you, I'll keep working on my husband who's about to go BB at his work!

Depending on what you're looking for it might be worth considering an american host or a british host with american servers because the space/bandwidth is cheaper.

Ouch Sue, that sounds like one of life's little 'challenges'. Very familiar! ::) (Another late night tonight, did you notice?!)

So sorry to be so late replying - not very good at keeping up with the site...

And thanks for the idea smallbus. Do you know any? I was going to register with Metronet for the end of June but now they want another 2.5 weeks to activate BB.
    Cheers

I'm currently trying httpme but I'm not sure if I would recommend them without trying them for a bit longer. I can say that their support is very good so far and its cheap if you are hosting multiple domains. One site I did try before this was unitedhosting which was very cheap but the support was terrible.

You could try asking at the hosting talk forum. Do a search on google for this. Beware though, there are a lot of site owners in there just vying for your business. If your thinking of going with one particular host, do a search on the forum and see what other people have said about them.
