  • I had a visit arranged with this company too. Due to arrive at 12 on Saturday 6th October. Called at 12.30 because no sign of them and was told they were running late would be there by 2.30-3. Its now Thursday 11th October and still no sign of them. No phone call - no reply to my email. Would I recommend them? Do I want to join all those on forum who want to report them to Rogue Traders? What do you think?
  • I'm also a newbie (to the forum, not this site). I indeed googled as I've been in contact with another angry customer via Facebook.

We paid a 50% deposit upfront, and I HOUNDED Colin until he fitted us with a pane of glass - he almost never returned calls, and only picked up once I withheld my number.

When he came to measure, he seemed friendly and professional, but when he returned to fit the glass he brought another man with him for some unknown reason and I felt really uncomfortable until my husband returned home. We then discovered several scratches on the pane of glass. He promised he'd return with a new pane, and that's the last we heard from him, despite NUMEROUS calls and texts. That was about four years ago.

To be fair, we got the cat flap fitted for 50% of the cost, so we gave up in the end, but this guy is either a conman, or unable to fulfil his own promises, so I'd steer clear of him, to be on the safe side.
  • I want to share my experience of Colin.

Came round to our house early February 2013. Supposed to be there around 11.00 but turned up at 2.00 after I rang him to find out where he was. When he got there he had no tape measure so I had to lend him one. He told me on the phone when I booked him that it would take 4 hours to do as he had to drill through the wall etc. when turns up, with his brother, he says he had to go at 4 because his brother was going out that evening! The job was rushed. It wasn't put together properly, it rained and the tunnel and the outside of the catflap collapsed. It's still like it in mid march. I have been promised Twice he would come back to fix it properly. I given up counting how many texts and phone calls I've made.

    I'M STILL WAITING

HOW did you pay? If CC or cash card you may be able to get the payment back from bank. Phone them. I would complain to Trading Standards.

Posting negative comments on Facebook is no good - it will be removed.
  • Colin fitted a cat flap in my wall earlier this year. It took him over 5 hours as it was a really difficult job through solid old brickwork. He was friendly, tidy and professional. He came back today to carry out a minor repair. It took him a few days to come because he needed to be in the area but he kept me informed as to when he would be able to come round. He has always returned phone calls and text message. I don't believe for a second that he is a scammer or that he kept any deposits because he didn't ask for a deposit from me before taking on the job.
    Really professional and friendly guy.

Colin, who chooses to keep his full name as anon as possible turned up to put a catflap in the wall at my home. I can only say that Colin, if that's his real name should consider employing my two cats to do the work as I'm sure they have a better idea than he does!

A catalogue of events for one day :
Put the catflap in the right wall, that's a good sign!
    Cut through an electrical wire
Didn't replace the plaster he knocked off the wall
Left brick dust and rubble on the floor
Walked in and out of my home leaving mud on carpets
He filled up my vacumn cleaner with brick dust and left it on the floor

The funniest aspect was he removed a water butt which was in the way of the catflap hole and said it was OK as there was a drain in the patio to allow the water from the gutter to flow away. I asked him about this so called drain, which he responded . I could see a pile of leaves in the corner of the patio and assumed there was a drain under it !!!!!!!!!! That has to be the best reply I have ever had. Remember if there is a pile of leaves it should have a drain under it???? He didn't check at all and had to come back to reinstate the water butt.

Overall very poor service and when confronted he was abusive.

I cancelled the cheque to ensure he came back, but he also arrived late again and gave me excuses that he went to his girlfriends for the night and said he should have ask my permission to do that! Hence why he was late.
Eventually he fixed the catflap correctly but I had to get him back for a third time as he hadn't bothered to fix it to the outside wall correctly.

All in all Colin is a cowboy, couldn't understand customer care if it hit him with a catflap and generally should not be going into people homes with his attitude. I'm sorry Colin but you really are extremely poor at any aspect and I would suggest your better at demolition as you don't care what mess you leave behind. Red warning flags and handle with care if you choose this guy
  • Great post!
  • I had already arranged for Colin to fit a cat flap into my kitchen wall when I came across this thread so was a little nervous.
Colin never asked for a deposit and turned up on time, I found him to be friendly and professional. When the job was completed he cleaned up after him and took all rubbish away. He fitted the cat flap perfectly and I'm extremely pleased with his standard of work.
I wouldn't hesitate in using Colin again.
