Is there such a thing as something to make running a bath quiet?

I remember seeing rubber attachments on sinks many years ago. I think they were around 5 or 6 inches long and think they were usually seen on taps on a deep butler sink. If you could get these maybe the water would come out in a narrower stream, and they'd be closer to the bottom of the bath, and which might stop the thundering noise.

Does anyone know what i'm talking about? :o

Depending on how your plumbing is arranged, some of the noise may be the flow of cold water refilling the hot water tank's header tank?
In my hot water tank cupboard, the pipe which supplies this cold water up into the loft has a valve to shut it off.

How about one of those showers that connect to the taps?

The things I was thinking about are called long rubber tap swirls!

    They're like this. http://www.toolsandhardwaredirect.co.uk/catalogue.php?cat=503&subCat=1542&item_id=6151

I have a lovely egg shaped free standing bath. The water hits the bath on a curve is is very quiet. So quiet I left it and forgot the other week and had water pouring through the ceiling!!

I would rather a noisy bath so not to have this happen again

Why doesn't he have a bath at night instead?

because he gets home at 8, walks the dog till 9, eats dinner, then goes to bed, he does sometimes have a bath at night but has a very long working day so is tired sometimes

Look up your make of electric shower, find the forum at the above site for that make, post the symptoms of your fault, and someone will be along to tell you the cure.

Don't ask a plumber, they'll most likely say replace the whole shower, when often it's just one component that needs fixing.

thanks, ive got a feeling that we have a leak in the pipework leading up to the shower. there is green staining all over the pipe and the hoover (which is kept in the airing cupboard where the pipework is) has limescale staining on top where water has been dripping on it.

he says the problem has occured recently and theres no water pressure, the water is coming out in a dribble. problem is we have no money for a plumber at the moment. we also have a leak under the kitchen sink

i dont use the electric shower and wouldnt mind if we binned it, except that then we would have a hole in the wall

The pipe leading to an electric shower should have mains pressure water, so if that's leaking you should be getting more than a dribble. Where the branch to the shower leaves the main inlet pipe, the fitter should have put a shut-off, or gate valve. If you're not using the shower, you can turn that off, then fix the leak later.

You may not have the money for a plumber, but you can clearly use a PC. Surf around, google, look on YouTube for plumbing guides and learn how to fix it yourself
