I bid on and won a dress that was described as "used" on Ebay ! it arrived yesterday.....I noticed marks that were "foodlike" on the top of the dress and I had troble with the zip going both up and down !!, it seems to stick, I thought I was going to tear the dress trying to pull it down in order to take it off.....I have e-mailed the seller......I would have expected the dress to have been dry cleaned was this too much to have asked ??....any advice ????

just email them - might be genuine mistake - might not - let them know your not very pleased - and see if they offer any incentives for you to keep it and not make them pay for its repostage
As Martin says - please be nice - there is no such thing as a stupid question ! ;)

I have had a reply !, saying that they listed the dress as used not dry cleaned !, and they did not see any marks on the dress, and they did not have any problems with the zip....but I have ried again and still had problems with the zip, and will have to pay for dry cleaning if I keep it !!....they have asked what do I want them to do ???

What do you want them to do? If the zip is sticking & breaks unless you can replace it yourself that's an expensive job. As is dry cleaning I believe, never actually dry cleaned anything myself, I wash on a silk or wool programme.
Was the dress that much of a bargain & do you like it enough to possibly fork out that much to make it wearable.
Ebay states in their rules that items have to be cleaned prior to selling.
Personally I would want my money back but you will need to send it back tracked, recorded doesn't track very often, so SD which is expensive.

IMO it would depend on how much you paid really. If you send it back, you will have to cover the cost of return postage. That never seems fair to me, if you have been sold a faulty item, but it's very rare to find a seller who will pay for you to return. I guess be honest with them - if you want a full refund, tell them that. If you would be happy to pay less for it, let them know. If they aren't very helpful, then you can open a dispute through ebay or paypal if you paid that way. Good luck.
    :DPlease, pretty please!:D

The seller has said they are willing to pay for dry cleaning !, but I think now the zip is my main concern !, just got my neighbour to try the zip and it stuck for her in the same place so I think it must be faulty.....The dress was over £50, so I would have expected it cleaned beforehand.....is it true that Ebay states clothes have to be cleaned prior to sale ??

Actually it isn't that rare. It depends on what you buy and from whom.

I refund regardless of fault/change of mind - and as such have very few returns, buyers buy with confidence with me and I am not alone in my attitude. For me it pays off, for my buyers it is invaluable.

There's the bit from the help pages.
I'd take the hit for the return tracked postage myself & find another dress. Unless this was one you just had to have.
  • Apparently if you 'draw' on the teeth of the zip with a pencil it may help the zip run more smoothly.
