Dirty find in hotel room - rights?

Sometimes refunds do take some time to appear (usually a few days when I've been waiting for one). If it hasn't appeared by a weeks time write to head office with a record showing the two transactions coming out and no refund appearing. ( you can blank out other information such as addresses, account details, dates, balances, other transaction details that are not relevant).0

Sorry, I couldn't help myself.
I AM seriously sorry for your awful experience though, OP. I'd have been absolutely fuming if I'd found that sort of thing and the room in such a state. Hope you get it sorted out OK. xx0 -

I found it at about 4am, but I was so tired because it was nigh on impossible to sleep with all the buzzing, wooping and wailing that the various fans/heats/air conditioners make, not to mention the hugely uncomfortable pillows and oppressive duvet. So I left it until check out because I had to leave at 8am anyway and I needed sleep.
I reported it in the morning and you would have thought I had just given the lady on reception an empty loo roll holder. She didn't seem at all bothered that this had happened, but after much probing and offering me a free breakfast (the Lord himself only knows what I would find in that!) she eventually offered to refund my room. By this point I was shocked by the complete lack of apologies and just needed to get out of there, so I accepted the refund and left. I've just discovered that not only did I not get a refund but I was actually charged AGAIN for my stay, and after a phone call the woman on reception didn't inform the manager of my find. Now I'm angry.
This is a hotel that has a good night sleep guarantee, so I should have been given a refund anyway from the lack of sleep. This entire thing pretty much ruined my weekend because I spent the day after completely knackered, and just the thought of sleeping in a bed that hadn't been changed and still had something like that in it it's just disgusting.
Any help?
