Problems with Aviva Site

A clause that's clearly shown before you accept a policy... and you choose to accept the policy on that basis.
many policy booklets are in the region of 50 pages long. The writing in them is small, often written in quite a technical manner that you have to read very carefully to make sure you fully understand all that is contains. I agree the information will be there but, more often than not, it requires quite a stretch of the imagination to consider that it is "clearly shown."0 -
Hi jacand, think you'll find that the bigger insurers get more bad press than smaller ones. Just down to volume. My experience of Aviva has been positive0

I made a claim with them following a car accident back in January and I can't fault them. It was all handled smoothly and efficiently and I was kept informed at every step.Have you ever had to claim from them?

I have been in the process of comprehensively checking through policy documents recently for comparison purposes and the wording in their policy documents is much tighter than other companies. The stuff to look out for is not just in the exclusions sections but in the rest of the small print in sections like how they manage claims. I guess that's pretty much to be expected since they just about the largest insurer and so have more claims experience to draw upon but its certainly something that puts me off - particularly if problems have already been experienced before you even sign up.
And, yes there is the issue of their customer service and having to deal with Asprea in the event of a claim to take into account.
Would you care to quote any of these that are substantially different to other insurers? I would love to know how they manage claims differently to other insurers from their policy booklet.0 -

in that case, go get the booklets and look it up like I did.0 -

I have copies of about 8 different Aviva ones here. I'm seeing that they have the option of how to deal with the claim through either replacement, suppliers or cash settling it, with a discounted rate for items they can replace directly.
This is in no way different to RBS policies, St Andrews ones, Esure ones, MMA ones or CIS ones.
I suspect you wont post it up because you are making it up.0 -

It's shown on your schedule... not sure how much clearer you need it to be next to the rest of your excesses?
Theres a copy of mine.. underlined it incase the print is too small to be seen0 -
Very good of you to seek out this ancient thread to make your maiden post.
(The Which? report doesn't agree with you though, and doesn't consider Aviva much good either, in fact going so far as to give them a "Not recommended" rating!)
