You could always try looking for a better paid job, something closer to home, with more flexible hours, it's always easier to find work whilst in employment. To leave your current job to go on to benefits is a bit of a no-no, and I don't think that the Benefits Office would view it favourably.
as long as you have a child uinder 7, you can stop working whenever you like....no questions asked, and go straight onto benefit.

Is that not just for single parents though?

my partner is on long term incapacity so we could claim income support if I stopped working with no questions asked I believe.

Aimee-any particular reason why you have not bought a house?

No deposit and I don't think a bank would give us a mortgage with my partner on incapacity benefit and only one wage coming in. I have also only been in my current job for 3 years and don't have a perfect credit history.

From my experience with local friends it is actually much cheaper to rent in my area than have a mortgage.

His condition means that he sometimes isn't able to get out of bed during the day and he gets extremely forgetful. Enough that I would be concerned that his mental state might deteriorate from looking after two small children.

His doctor has upped his medication and he is definitely getting better and will try and return to work soon hopefully.

His abilities vary each day and I would be too worried for him to look after them both - I panic enough how he is getting on by himself during the day without having to worry about my kids too :(

Your benefit will be static or even less considering the current conservative gov.

If You work you get work experience and you could get a better paid job using your work experience

Anyone else want to ponce off the state? Op you have £950 a month left over after you have paid your bills but you want to join the growing list of scavs and bleeders who want cash for doing nothing, i know its all within the rules and you are not cheating anyone but this country is in the mess its in because the last labour government created a culture of dependence on the state making it easier to claim benefits rather than working for a living and the sooner it stops the sooner we can start getting back on our feet.
    Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.
