swap from DLA to PIP
Comments

The problem is with it is that many disabilities are not always 'in yer face' ones, and many people seem to assume that if someone looks well, they must be frauds lol
The only changes to DLA, so far stated, when it goes to PIP, if it goes, is that lower rate care and mobility will be dropped.
Dread to think how this affects deaf and hard of hearing people - it was hard enough in the first place for me and my partner to be awarded lower rate DLA - we applied at different times, while living at different addresses and both had to appeal to get it.XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX:wave:XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX0 -

Thankyou for confirming it.
As long as all three are there there should be no problem getting the benefit.0 -
I have always filled in the forms for my son, who is now 13. I have never checked to see what he can/can't do relates to his condition - I just write it like it is. I have also never checked against the Decision Maker's Handbook (I didn't know there was one until after I joined MSE). I have also never attended the GP to inform him of my son's needs - although he does know some details based on medication, supply of nappies, etc, and information that has come up in appointments for injections, ill health, etc.
My son has received HRC since he was three months old and HRM since he was three years old. I have no need to exaggerate my son's needs to get a higher award - he has quite sufficient needs to warrant HRC and HRM. Unfortunately, as he gets older, he is developing more health problems that require more care, and due to his learning disabilities, he cannot take over much of the care for himself. I do encourage independence where possible, though, such as changing a wet nappy and cleaning himslef(with supervision, as he does not do it properly otherwise). For soiled nappies, well, that is still my job as my son cannot manage this at all.

this is putting the fear of god up me, i receive high rate mobility and low rate care, i was awarded it for life in the early 90`s, a few people have said i should be middle rate care but the thought of loosing it stops me, tbh i would gladly lose it if i could have new lungs, a new heart, the hip replacements im too young for, the nerve problems in both arms sorted, the arthritis behind my heart and at the base of my spine/lower back and the !!!!!!ed knees, even though im 57 if i could have this i would be happy to go back to work - im a marine engineer by trade, my heads a mess with the pain i suffer, i cant take most pain tablets because they either effect the lungs or send me nuts, i have a morbid fear of hospitals as i have lost both parents and siblings while they had heart problems sorted in hospital, now this crap from a group of charlatans called a government0

There was wide consultation about the proposals to replace DLA with PIP - but the replies and comments were never made public.
Disability campaigners have used FOI requests to get hold of some of these replies and it hit the news yesterday that Boris Johnson has made unfavourable comments.
I wonder how many other individuals and organisations were also against it - it appears that these responses were conveniently 'buried' by the government!
The Lords are due to vote on the Welfare Reform Bill next week but, the way things are going, it looks as if it will go through with only minor ammendments.
- and just this very night :
conDEMS lost three votes in the House of Lords on its welfare reform plans.
Vote was 260 to 216 to protect up to 15,000 young disabled people from cuts to ESA
Vote was 234 to 186 for a 24 month limit to claim, instead of the proposed 12 month
Vote was 222 to 166 to exempt the previous bucolic limit imposed on cancer sufferers, now no limits

Richie sorry my heads like cotton wool. What does that mean to the punter on the street?0
-
It just means that the bill goes back to the commons, who will throw out all of the amendments and submit the original wording back to the Lords again, so a delay but not a victory.0

- as Cpt.Scarlet says .. .. Chris Grayling is already today on record as saying exactly that- however we wait and see
- .. .. little by little, however the reason I posted the numbers not just the outcome is 30 30 30%
- ∴ next time the HOL's get it I'd be interested to know whether the ratio is ≥ about the same, if it rises maybe a further compromise !Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. it was and when we tried taking the mod to court over it the chap i saw in relation to it actually saw me as a specialist working for the ` company` once i realised that i took it back to my solicitor, he then got me a second opinion and at that meeting the chap seeing me mentioned that i had already seen mr ****** although he refereed to him as my friend mr ******, at this i knew i was about to get reamed, after a week i again spoke to my legal guy who said that the second opinion basically bore basically the same wording as the first and his advice was to `forget it` as the mod have more money that you, at that time i was awarded the dla for life after a home visit by two doctors, around that time i was told about industrial injuries, i was advised not to take it too far as it would have affected the fact i was on income support, since then i have a divorce behind me and now live in my own place ( rented), thing is i get a bit more than average ib benifits ( now esa) although personally gain nothing from it as my housing benefit takes the excess from it, i assume that anything awarded industrial injuries would carry the same end result ?? and if that being the case means i get prodded, probed and tested for no actual benefit what so ever other than things get moved around again0
