    hi

It seems it is the half board option that pushes the price up at Butlins...
do most people dine out then, rather than do self catering?

just resurecting this thread as i have just booked Butlins through the sun deal and want to know more about the standard apartments at Skegness and what its worth upgrading to, adding on or taking off the booking...

i have never been to Butlins before as this is our first summer dog free..

I have booked standard self catering as we always want to cook rather than eat out.

so - after doing these holidays at Haven many times, i have no idea what to expect from butlins..

Can i take off passes? can i bring own linen? can i upgrade?

VERY excited as have got Aug weekend for sons 8th birthday as he loves swimming and i know the new pool is going to be fab :)

    any Butlins advice appreciated...
eg what is there to do in the evenings?

what time is the pool open?

what are the extra activities you have to pay for and what is included?

    :j:j:j

hi ive only been to butlins bognor but always removed my linen and always removed my entertainment passes and have never needed them and all the times ive been linen has been provided, ive upgraded a couple of times i think before it cost me £80 to upgrade to a silver that was on a break in june but i needed to as i added more people, hope ive helped a little
  • Hi, I did the sun hol to Butlins Skegness last summer. We didnt upgrade, its the first time we ve stayed standard and other than the apartment not looking quite so pretty from the outside as the others it was just the same inside (minus a microwave). Dont think I would bother paying the extra to upgrade anymore. As for linen and passes we removed both. We took our linen with us but actually they HAD included it and all beds were ready upon our arrival. Dont know if this was a fluke so I would continue to take linen just in case. We have never needed passes for anything although they will try and tell you that you do. We usually book direct with Butlins and even then you are never issued a pass, just a room key. My friend was there just before Easter and she also wasnt given passes. As for stuff to do, there is loads both day and night so plenty to keep you busy. You will be given a programme of activities including times and where you will find them when you check in so you can plan out your holiday. Its always the first thing we do after unpacking our stuff. We ve been going there every year, sometimes a couple of times a year for the past 4 years and its great for kids. Our little one loves it. Hope this helps x
